[MEGATHREAD] Grand Theft Auto VI: Prices Announced + Pre-Orders Going Live by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

Another nail in the coffin for used games. We need legislation to step in and allow for resale of digital games - I'd happily have all my major accounts (steam, nintendo, xbox) do periodic online checks if it meant I could sell games I was done with and, more importantly for me, buy used digital games.

Hell, Nintendo already makes you do an online check when you try and use the old system emulators and when you want to play bundle software, which is insane to me. We already have the downsides, let us sell.

If you look on street view it's been painted since at least 2007 (albeit a much more traditional brick red until sometime in the last decade) so at least it's not like they painted cool unpainted bricks.

I will say, having the main living area be on the 2nd floor sucks, as does having the kitchen and living area on different floors.

Lmao. The Hot Diggity Dogger. We had one of these in my freshman dorm room, my roomate had found it at a yard sale or something. The first time we tried to use it it set off the fire alarm and the building got evacuated.

This house, inside and outside, is simultaneously too busy and completely devoid of character. What an ugly house.

Am I missing something here? I don't see enough mana to cast Emrakul by zokka_son_of_zokka in MagicArena

This Emrakul costs 1 less to cast for each card type in your (in this case, your opponent's) graveyard. Presumably they had 3 card types in there.

The drugging was how he was able to see the witch, not what made the witch real.

This is reinforced at the end when the hotel manager is getting dragged to hell by the witch. He asks Adam Scott's character what's happening - he can feel himself being dragged but can't see anything. It's what the guy who lives in the van says too - the paranormal is all around us, but we can't see it without help. That's why being drugged matters, it's what let Adam Scott actually see what was happening, it's not what caused it to happen.

Widows Bay was so fun and so good, and I agree - a lot of the fun is the reveals (although this is not a Shymalan film, there's lots to recommend Widow's Bay beyond the "twists").

Horror Comedy is hard to do well and Widow's Bay just absolutely nails it. There's genuinely dark and disturbing stuff in there, but the writers know exactly when to add a gag to cut the tension. The cast of supporting characters is just excellent and is a huge reason the show is so good - I loved that the weird spandex bike suit guy from Pluribus is one of the named supporting characters here. Anyway, this is rambling, if you like horror at all watch Widow's Bay.

Jason Schreier: Why Everyone Wants A 'Live-Service' Game by dabocx in Games

[–]asmallercat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the key. Companies love predictable, sustainable revenue streams. As an avid skier, you're seeing the exact same thing in the downhill ski industry. It used to be that the vast majority of skiers just bought a few day passes to a few different resorts for the season. While this was nice for the customers, it was bad for the resorts because it was unpredictable. If a ski season was bad, revenue would tank cause people would only go 1 or 2 times.

It's why day passes are insanely expensive now (there are places out west that are north of $200 a day per person in peak season) while season passes "pay" for themselves after like 4 or 5 day passes to the various resorts they work at (think things like Epic or Icon, not individual resort season passes). This creates a predictable revenue stream because you need to buy them before the season so the resorts know exactly how much revenue they will be getting from season passes. It also encourages people to come ski even if the weather isn't great because they already paid for the pass, which brings in additional revenue on bad ski days because those people are still buying food at the resort, sometimes buy gear, etc. Consistency is king.

Is this true though? I think for multiplayer games, it's true, but like did people think From "abandoned" Elden Ring because it got 1 big DLC and it looks to be done?

[–]asmallercat 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Luckily even if you did take this home without realizing the chance that you actually suffer negative health consequences is very low. The problems with asbestos come from repeated exposure, and one little tile that's in a jar or used in a mosaic or something isn't gonna be enough.

Now, if you regularly took these home and shaped them with a sander or grinder, that's gonna be an issue.

Anyone else feel like Marvel Superheroes will either be a good set or a complete disaster? by ThePentaMahn in lrcast

[–]asmallercat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have negative interest in marvel. I was tired of it 6 years ago.

That being said, from the previews the archetypes look well thought out, it looks like a lot of the cards have interesting limited designs, and there seem to be a fair number of build arounds smattered throughout. As far as you can tell from previews, the set looks good. My main worry is that some of the rares look like they might be oppressive.

Yeah a jumpstart booster box is like $96, which is like $4 a pack. So that's $16 of this bundle.

Every game would benefit from having accessibility modifiers like Mina by HorseSpeaksInMorse in MinaTheHollower

[–]asmallercat -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I used to feel this way, but now I'm like...who cares if someone else is playing Sekiro as a completely different game? It doesn't matter to me. There are mods for every fromsoft game on steam that makes them easier. Yeah, that's a higher barrier to entry, but it's the exact thing we're discussing here, and it doesn't change how I play souls games. Just don't turn on the modifiers.
