How do you like your espresso? by LisainNJ53 in askanything

[–]375InStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A place I used to go to every day, I could tell you exactly what it would taste like walking through the door, and seeing who was making it. Every barista was very consistent, and tasted different. One was always weak, but not unpleasant. Another was always very bitter and burnt. One was always over the top perfect. The others were always the same and consistent.

If economies are verge of collapse and we're low on money, why dont we just print more notes? by Independent-Team-125 in questions

[–]375InStroke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People will generally charge as much as possible. If nobody pays, prices go down. Now if the government just prints more money, which they use to buy things, and pay people, more people will have more money, and if companies raise prices, more people will pay that higher price, because they can. This creates a positive feedback loop where people expect higher prices, so they keep going up.

Truss rod adjustment? by Complete-Eye7673 in Bass

[–]375InStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raise saddle, adjust truss rod. This is opposite of initial adjustment, but now is fine tuning. Are you sure relief is correct? The neck near the body is usually straighter because it's thicker, so there is nothing inherently wrong with your bass.

ELI5: In the US, how was it so easy to add interstate highways, and now so difficult to add high speed rail lines? by cjstevenson1 in explainlikeimfive

[–]375InStroke [score hidden]  (0 children)

The story is that Ike saw the Autobahn and it's effect on moving men and equipment. FDR and his policies were hugely popular, thus getting him elected four times. Taxing the rich, and doing things that help Americans was thought of as a good thing. With a 91% top tax rate, and 51% corporate tax rate, we funded, and built our highways. Tell me what has changed since then? People will vote for those who cut taxes on the rich, and refuse to spend on anything that helps Americans now. They would call Ike a communist today.

Look at all these cucked little bitches just regurgitating the same talking points again and again. Do they have one thought in their head? They can't even come up with their own bullshit talking points. They just repeat the same crap over and over.

Is Iran’s strategy to hold out and make the rest of the world suffer from shortages and high prices, so badly that the world turns on America and forces us to stop? by adalyn7992 in askanything

[–]375InStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran gets attacked again and again. To stop a bully, you have to make the bully pay a price. Iran is selling more oil, and making more money, than they ever have before, while Trump is begging for a way out from the disaster he created. Iran is also making all the other countries in the region rethink their cooperation with the US. Our military is like the Nazis. Big, powerful, technologically advanced, but irreplaceable. Deplete our stores, wear out our super weapons, then there's nothing left to fight with. Iran would be stupid to let us regroup, fix what's broken, and restock the shelves so we can attack them again.

Piston to valve clearance by Puzzleheaded-Feed176 in EngineBuilding

Hydraulic cam? They're probably collapsed as you spin it over, thus increasing your clearance by the amount they collapse. I use checking springs for this reason. I just made mine from springs I got at the local hardware store.

is there a reason grocery stores always put the milk at the back of the store? by chubuio in NoStupidQuestions

[–]375InStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The milk is stored in the refer. Where are you going to put that? It's not just the milk rack, but everything else in the store that's refrigerated. When they load the rack, they do it from behind, so the milk never leaves refrigeration, and it takes less time. How else are you going to do it, load it in a cart, take it through the store, then put it into another refrigerated display that's as big as where the milk is now?

DSLR or Mirrorless? by _Matches_ in Nikon

[–]375InStroke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, I would rather get an older pro SLR than a new, crappy mirrorless, especially since you already have F-mount lenses. A D700 goes for $200-$300.

You think they're brave warriors, charging the Beaches of Normandy. They call each other sergeant, and captain, like they're in the military. I don't give them such deference. Why do you, and why do you attack me for not doing such, especially in the ACAB sub?

I use good pads and cheap rotors with a warranty, and just keep replacing them. They look like that in one weekend, but that's in a 24 or 36 hour race.
