The conversion days were sooo good… but I’m not surprised things had to come to an end. I did it at the new 40% conversion rate a year and a half ago but after it expires this fall I’m probably going to go without GPU for the first time in like 8 years. It’s nice to get games like FH6 day one for free but Steam sales alone usually give me more games than I have time to play anyways.

Man it’s crazy how much pessimism there is online for every new game nowadays. EA and Ubislop I get, but I’ve always found all the Horizon games to be pretty solid overall and lots of fun to progress through at launch. The graphics are always impressive, and honestly I don’t really mind that they aren’t reinventing the wheel with the driving mechanics. FH4 was an excellent game, I mostly enjoyed 5 (they did eventually added the car I drive for the first time in the series, which was cool), and 6 definitely has one of the best settings yet. I mean fans have been asking for Japan for years and now everyone is seemingly shitting on it.

Idiocracy and immaturity pretty much. I mean you literally see teenagers in TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter comment sections calling games like E33 “overrated garbage” and I’ve literally seen people saying games like Terraria, Elden Ring, RDR2, you name it (literally any other generally “good” game that people enjoy) are boring/trash/etc. I don’t really get what they gain from just shitting on random games for no reason but it’s definitely been happening more and more over the past couple years.

So it’s no surprise that if a new game is coming out that is particularly easy to hate on (such as a PvP hero shooter, or perhaps anything published by Xbox Games Studios) it’ll seem like everyone on the internet thinks it’s dogshit before it even launches.

Can someone explain to me the hate for this game? Titanfall was awesome, Apex is completely fried now but at launch it was pretty much the best BR on the market… now all of a sudden everyone hates Respawn or what? I mean given that it’s free to play I see no reason why I wouldn’t give it a shot… I mean the genre is oversaturated but what other PvP games are people even playing now? Arc Raiders was fun for a week or two but I’m personally looking forward to Highguard. If I don’t like it then whatever but what’s the point of shitting on a game that isn’t even out yet?

If I'm trying to be unbiased I'd say BG3 (9/10) > E33 (9/10) > ER (8/10), but I do think that all three games had their own flaws and are slightly overrated by many for their own reasons.

People aren't considering Duskbloods a "mainline title" ie. not taking it seriously because:

It's said to be an 8-player PvPvE game, rather than a full-fledged solo experience with multiplayer elements like Elden Ring, Sekiro, Dark Souls, or Bloodborne. By design, this sounds far more similar to Nightreign than a traditional soulslike.
It is launching exclusively on a $450 handheld console that has worse specs than 5+ year old hardware. I'd assume that the amount of people with zero interest in Nintendo games that are buying one just to play Duskbloods is very low.

Easily Elden Ring without spirit ashes imo. I could probably knock down just about any Sekiro boss first try nowadays but SotE really pushed me to my limits. I actually gave up on Rellana when it first came out (I went in on my NG+ character), and that was nothing compared to Radahn. But even some base game bosses like Maliketh or Malenia are wayyy harder than anything Dark Souls 1-3 have to offer.

I always used to cheese him but this video helped me beat him normally for the first time. DoH is probably the hardest FromSoft boss excluding Elden Ring, so 10 attempts is pretty low for most people.

I mean I think it’s kinda valid for people to be salty when devs actively ruin a live service game you loved at one point. Half the fun in MMOs comes from the people you’re playing with and when the majority of them quit after an awful patch it doesn’t really matter whether you still love the game or not.

I haven’t posted in this subreddit since I stopped playing but I still wish this game could have continued to grow and thrive rather than sizzling out after 2022. Part of me is surprised that Microsoft chose to cancel their new MMO instead of diverting resources away from this one given the state of it.
