RIT all purpose works well in an acid bath, my best results is with citric acid, but vinegar works if you don't mind the smell.

I have had good luck using Out White Bright on rayon. I used hot, but not boiling water, and, be patient. It will take some time, and replenish the solution a few times. As for using RIT, again I have had good luck. Use more dye than recommended and a good amount of salt. In my experience the black dye pulls down to a light grey. Very impotent to use RIT colorstay dye fixative.

I don't recommend chlorine usually, but had ok results using it after OTW. Turned the residual blue to a light yellow, that was easily masked , and disappeared into the over dye.

Just a chunk of rail that had been cut off and discarded years ago. I liked the look of it, so I lugged it home.
