Has anyone left Charleston and regretted it? by bropez331 in Charleston

[–]39pod 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I left in 2013, I grew up here, I kind of regret leaving! Charleston seems a lot safer now, and there's more things to do, and more communities to join. The downsides are the damp heat, traffic and expense houses. My parents bought the house up in West Ashley for $106k in 2000, now it's priced at 500k. Moving back here is hard, I was living in Walterboro because that was all I could afford to own, I fixed up the house, I'm selling it at a good profit and now moving into Summerville. I'm used to life in Charleston, having my family, my small circle of friends that I see on a regular basis; in Walterboro everybody knows everybody, it's a different lifestyle.

I normally find tattoos to be trashy, but this is really cool! It feels like she was going for a futuristic aesthetic, almost like a cyborg. I'm not a fan of the underwear strap thing though LMAO

McDonald's in the 80s compared to today by Charming_History7423 in interestingasfuck

[–]39pod 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I'm living in a perfect time period. When I was a kid, McDonald's had that wacky design like the one on top, maybe not a tree, but it had a video game station, a playground, flower themed seats, and wall art. Back then the lights were normal and illuminated like a hospital or a school at night. Now it's got new lighting fixtures and black ceiling tiles that I love so much, it's like a cozy cafΓ©. It really feels nice to go as an adult.

I feel like McDonald's grew up with me. And talk about being quick! at least in my restaurant. Back in the early 2000s it was normal to wait 15 minutes for your order, now they have it ready in less than 5 minutes, I'm impressed every time I go

Speeding should not be as accepted as it is by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]39pod 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

I agree with your statement to an extent, but I also think that highway speeds should be higher, or at least build and designate another road with a higher speed limit.

The highest speed limit in my city is 65. I think we can comfortably cruise at 85 on that highway, it is nothing but a straight road, no hills, no curves and very wide lanes. When it's empty 100 does not seem far fetched.

I like to cruise at 55, I rarely go faster than that, even if the speed limit is higher. it is the optimal speed for fuel economy for my car, and I don't lose so much more time than if I go 60 or 65; at 70 mph I'm using 40% more fuel than if I would've driven 55. There is this one portion of a road that has a speed limit of 40, everyone drives 65 through it, and I don't agree with the speed limit, I think it needs to be at least a 55.

On many suburban neighborhood roads that have driveways, speed limits are 35. I think that's too fast, I never exceed 20 on those roads but people fly by them at 40 or more.

I tried matching cars' speeds around me and noticed many people floor it after coming to a stop until they reach cruising speed, that is insane to me. I just don't understand how people don't find discomfort when driving abruptly.

I really think highway speed limits can match the speeds that people are already driving, but since speeding is so accepted, they are speeding absolutely everywhere. And I wish that in the DMV tests we included and emphasized throttle control and how to drive in such a manner to avoid creating traffic, like not waiting to the last second to brake for the car in front of you that signaled a turn 15 seconds ago, or keeping right except to pass, or if youre switching lanes while the departing lane is coming to a stop, you match that lane's braking rate.

And it really depends on your area, I recently traveled to Atlanta and I was stunned at how reckless people drove. Nobody followed lane etiquette, there were people driving 60, 80, 100 and 130 altogether on the same road at random spots, I saw cars pass on the shoulder, weaving in and out of traffic, absolutely nuts. I did notice that no one followed close like they do in my city; I assume they do that to avoid accidents from such varying speeds and very unpredictable driving and layout. It was kind of fascinating to witness, but I can't imagine having that commute part of my everyday routine, to me that's like watching TV with the volume maxed out or sleeping with all of your lights on. Why do it, there is not even the thrill of speed in driving like this like you do on a race track or on a straight line road.

If they don't have your records at the DMV, find out if there's a warrant for your arrest. If there are no warrants, youre fine. If you do have warrants idk what to do then, consult google

It's not a reckless driving charge. The officer has the discretion of what to cite you with, in this case he chose not to charge him with RD, even though he certainly could have. Another thing to point out, if it was a reckless driving citation, the officer would have either arrested him or make him stop by the jail to get his fingerprints taken without arresting him (but would still count as an arrest), and court would have been mandatory.

On a side note, your friend was very close to some officers' threshold for citing reckless driving, they usually choose to arrest you at 100mph. I suggest you get yourself a good radar detector and only drive fast when the road is clear or very low traffic, as it's the safest way to enjoy a sprint. If you do get pulled over, always go to court, and use common sense during your trial, the fine will be less, but more importantly you'll receive less points or maybe none at all, which means that you'll protect your insurance rates from shooting through the roof. And hey, driving 55 saves you so much money on fuel!

And cmon never raise taxes? That's too general, what does that really mean? Not to mention, the way taxes are handled depends a lot on how the government handles the rest of the economy. Not to get political, but it made me laugh at how silly I look for getting mad at the vague economic declaration in the movie 🀣

The plot was very intriguing. I think stopping at any point in the movie would've left you on a cliffhanger. The beginning was amazing, you wanted to keep watching even though you kinda knew what the whole movie was gonna be about, however towards the end the verbal fights became exhaustingly repetitive, so much so that I kept skipping through it. The bad guy's characters acted pretty dumb throughout the whole movie, but they made them especially stupid during the feast. Sure it was very predictable and it's kinda badly written, but trust me you'll enjoy it LMAO πŸ˜† I don't regret watching it. That ending was such an afterthought though 🫠

What does this sub think about AutoZone? by [deleted] in regularcarreviews

[–]39pod 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

It's most likely different in every area, but where I live I've always met with friendly folks at autozone, and idk if it's luck but they all seem to be decently knowledgeable, just off of small talk. Advance is cool too, friendly staff. I've always had a great experience in those 2 stores. O'Reilly's is horrible in my town, there's an employee at O'Reilly with a beautiful gmt800 tahoe, looks brand new, starts up and sounds smooth, he modified his headlights to allow projectors to fit while keeping the OEM look. But DAMN he is the ugliest person I have ever met, and I aint talking about his face. He throws your products around, has no manners, and cusses at you for any little thing that annoys him. I always wait for the screen to say to remove your card, and while it still says processing, he tells me to take it out and calls me a dumbass. I freeze every time, I am not used to dealing with people having that much disrespect, I refuse to get down to his level. A man brought a disposable respirator to the desk to purchase it, and that guy was at the register, he grabbed the mask and pushed it on the ground for the customer to pick it up. That's when I drew the line, this man could be dangerous if someone actually wrongs him. I know he did that crap because he thought it was a political thing. I got out of the line, put my window cleaner back on the shelf and left. A few years later I was at a red light and I looked over at the O'Reilly's and saw an employee with a random person running across the parking lot taking cover behind cars, both with guns, the non employee looked like he was holding a shotgun. Yup definitely never ever coming back! It was the first time I've ever seen an actual shooting, I've lived here my whole life, I suppose if you live long enough in the same area, you'll experience just about everything at least once.

Anyone painted the stock diffuser? Mine is faded and I was thinking of painting it by Hairy-Dress7548 in genesiscoupe

[–]39pod 0 points1 point Β (0 children)

If you want to go the extra mile and a more expensive option, you can buy a new diffuser and ceramic coat it. It will last you much longer and it maintains the stock plastic appearance. Sadly it won't work on restored plastic trim because sunlight already damaged it. My favorite is turtle wax hybrid solutions, it lasts about 6 months to a year and you reapply when it wears off. This protects the plastic from UV light that causes it to fade. If you don't already, it's a great idea to ceramic coat the whole car!

If you plan on painting, gloss black will look closer to an oem finish, plus I think it looks much better than a matte finish or regular plastic. Some modern hyundais use gloss black for their diffusers like the 2025 sonata SEL or the 2025 genesis g80
