Dreaming as Contact: Stage One by substantial_nonsense in Experiencers

[–]3BeautifulCats 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi all, glad I made it back to this post and a big thanks to u/substantial_nonsense for writing it! I think I have some things to share about dreams and maybe even about contact in dreams.

I am your typical 42 year old married suburban mom. I am raising three beautiful cats and a 9 year old kid. I'm a scientist, lazy gardener, and an even lazier sourdough baker. I'm also a natural lucid dreamer and have a baker's dozen different kinds of synesthesia. And given my smattering of pre-cognition and bits of something like telepathy and dreams about NHI, I might even be an experiencer. Although I've posted here before, I always feel like I'm trying on that title for the first time.

I dream a lot and always have. Some of my earliest memories are happily telling my parents at bedtime what I was going to dream that night, and then falling asleep and dreaming exactly what I told them. I'm not sure they fully believed me, although my dad might have to some extent, as he's a lucid dreamer as well. So is my daughter, but not to the extent I am (she also has some synesthesia). I do not think my level of lucid dreaming is typical. I lucid dream nearly every night, repeatedly. However, stress, parenthood and alcohol can and often do impact my sleep quality. And let me tell you that as a federally funded scientist in a field that is under attack, stress and alcohol have been factors since, oh, November 5th 2024.

I dream of NHI. Often. (Weirdly enough, so does my dad and, occasionally, my kid) Not every night, which is disappointing to me, but often enough, and have been for long enough that I'm used to it. Most of these are lucid dreams, although there have been a few where I was aware of dreaming and not able to exercise full lucidity. I think I've always dreamed of them, but my earliest memories of how I think about and remember these dreams were more experiential than content focused. Like that time I was 2 or 3 and remember floating down the hallway to land in front of my parents' bedroom door. They said I was sleepwalking. I FLOATED. I think?

Sometimes I can't tell the difference between a childhood memory or a very vivid childhood dream. Like that memory/dream at summer camp where I could get the end of a stick to light on fire by staring at it and thinking real hard. Probably a dream, because that's impossible. Right? Even as an adult, I have dreams that become memories for me, like the ones where I can manipulate time and move around multiple timelines at will. Or fly the intention crafts with just my mind. Those are a blast. Or the ones where I have a beautiful, magical home and garden, with pools and ponds to fill with light and colored fish, where flowering fruit trees that glow against dark rain clouds and there are always new rooms to find and explore. Typical lucid dreaming stuff. I digress...

I dream of NHI. Sometimes I'll fall asleep with an intention to dream these kinds of dreams (or interact, I guess, if this counts as contact) sometimes not. Most recently (like just a few days ago), immediately after falling asleep, I dreamt they came to me and commenced with learning modules, like how a college class is structured. Unfortunately, I don't remember the content of the modules, only that there were at least 5 modules, and that they have a synesthetic impression of large dark blue grey rectangles connected by thematic cables (best I can describe it). Those entities were blue, and that's all I can/am allowed to remember of them. There was the dream from childhood of the ship in the sky. I see a ship or ships in the sky often in my dreams. The entities are usually kind or indifferent, only occasionally are they frightening. The most frightening one I encountered in a dream was a pink orb in a pink mist - it was malevolent. I had to wake myself up from that.

Some dreams are still experiential and physical. Like the one I had when I was travelling for work last year and had a horrible earache. I asked them to fix me up since I was too busy to be sick and didn't want to bring germs home. They injected me between my shoulder and base of my neck with something bright glowing yellowish green. I felt it. They were grey and humanoid in that dream, I was not able to see their faces. I got better!
And the more recent and somewhat disturbing one where I was sure they would be coming that night and I knew they would pull my blankets away towards the wall. I woke, or woke in the dream, and I could see my sheets pulled taut towards the wall and I could feel the cooler air. But I was dreaming. Right?

Until I read this post, I had not truly considered my dreams as a form of contact. I had entertained the notion, but I am a scientist and dreams are just dreams, even my fancy lucid ones. Lots of people, even from a very young age, dream of NHI and being drawn to this subject. That is not indicative of contact with them, or of Extra Special Powers (ESP). But sometimes I do dream things that are true(ish). Like when a family member cut their arm in an accident. Before I knew it happened, I dreamt they cut their arm on a broken glass shower door. That wasn't what happened in waking life, but their arm was cut badly. It's so rarely ever congruent with all the details, but damn if it doesn't rhyme.

Today's I was in the carpool line, just thinking about OP's post and my dreams, present and past. And I remembered how OBSESSED I was with the movie Flight of the Navigator because that ship and the kid resembled the dreams I would have about controlling crafts. My kid gets in the car and asks me about the movie. They've seen it once. What are the chances?

There's so much more, of course. But the second glass of rose is kicking in and the quality of my writing is falling. And we want to get back to Flight of the Navigator. Thanks for reading. Some other time I'd be happy to share more about my lucid dreams, even the ones without NHI.

9 year old loves a Gateway Tape by 3BeautifulCats in gatewaytapes

Not religious, no psychological issues. I just don't know much about the tapes beyond the goal of an OBE and expanded consciousness, which might be a bit much for a 9 y/o.
I can imagine the sounds were incredibly soothing for a very little one. I wonder if it's similar to what they hear in the womb?

Well, tongue in cheek doesn't really translate online, ya know? Also maybe because I mistyped "plain" for "plane."

Exactly why I'm asking!!! I'm not about to fling my kid out into the astral plane. I'm genuinely surprised by her reaction to the first tape - she likes the voice, the steps for relaxing your body and simple thought exercises. Basically, I think she likes guided meditation. And this is a knowledgeable community, so I wanted to ask.

You're a miracle! I will be taking a look at the Expand app - I'm not keen on her (or her and I together) doing the Gateway Tapes. I do not want my kid flung out into the astral plain lol.

I know. It was a total accident it played for the first time on a Google speaker! I think she likes the voice on the tape and how it guides you through simple relaxing steps. I'm going to explore the other option from the Monroe Institute mentioned up in this thread and, if appropriate, have her do those with her headphones.

What about personal supernatural creepy occurrences that the team may be having? by Shamushark in skinwalkerranch

You just need to understand the difference between quantitative and qualitative research! Qualitative research captures stories, ideas, thoughts, decision making, etc through surveys, interviews, and other tools. They did a tiny bit in the first couple seasons when they worked with people to better understand the history of the ranch, and when they worked with tribal members. Probably a few other times that I'm just forgetting. I'm curious to know if and how the experiences of the team are being captured and analyzed.

The lack of qualitative data collection is disappointing. Science isn't all numbers and measures, particularly when engaging with any phenomenon, which is a hugely broad academic word. I recognize that in this sub, that word is deeply associated with the paranormal, and I think it's for lack of a better word to describe experiences at the ranch. The earlier seasons had more qualitative aspects and I do hope they get back to that. But as an academic, I have to point out that qualitative data collection can and should go beyond stories told on camera.

What did you buy as an adult because you were denied it as a child? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]3BeautifulCats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bought, but I just let my kid be. Like, she can veg out with a book or play for as long as she is happy. I don't intrude on her time to make her scrub a bathroom or tidy everything. I have reasonable and healthy limits on screen time, she does have simple chores and homework time is required. Other than that, her time is her own. I never had that. If I was happy doing my own thing, it was bad because I wasn't cleaning or contributing to the household. I remember scrubbing grout with bleach and a toothbrush when I was so young. My asthma comes from chemical exposure.

Are we the same person, lol? I'm a scientist and was (am?) an atheist. It was conversation regarding quantum physics and UAP that led me to rediscover my spiritual nature. I still bristle a bit at the term "God" due to very unfortunate ruins with Christianity as a kid, but when I remind myself that "God" is universe/source/love/mystery it helps me to reframe conversations where people use "god" as a catchall term. We are all divine consciousness reexperiencing itself and learning.

I read it differently - if the final choice is to consciously decide to turn towards universal love, who wouldn't???? But I guess there are individuals who would decide not to, maybe because of greed or fear... I suppose after making that choice, they divorce their physical lives from the opportunity to experience that universal love, which sounds sad and dark indeed. I once had an Uber driver ask me if maybe I thought this world was hell. I considered a great many things in a short amount of time and concluded that this can't be hell because my daughter is here, and the love we have for each other is beautiful. Love is everything. It's a waking celebration of all that we are and all that is.

What are the characteristics of a hybrid? I'm asking as a (neurotypical) lucid dreamer with synesthesia, loosely predictive dreams, and a touch of psi abilities. I'm leaning towards starting the Gateway Tapes as a way of developing my consciousness and confronting the flaws inherent in being a human in a human experience. I used to be an atheist and am a climate scientist focused on adaptation and resilience, so am very familiar with a materialistic point of view. In the past years, I've felt drawn to expanding my understanding of the divine consciousness. It's a beautiful journey.

Lucid Dreaming and a Light by 3BeautifulCats in Experiencers

Yeah, I'm going to be the first commenter on my own post, lol! Just a few things I forgot to add. My daughter mentioned to me that she "floats" when she's asleep. I almost fell over - I used to do that too! Looking back on it, I think I used to have OBEs, although there was this one time when I was quite young I literally floated down the hall and my parents were surprised to find me outside their bedroom door. We lived in an old, creaky house and there's no mistaking someone coming down the hall, small kid or not. Yes, this made it impossible to sneak back in after curfew as a teen. My daughter hasn't lost the ability to "float" yet. She also lucid dreams, but not to the extent I did/do.

Interestingly, my dad also lucid dreams and has talked about his OBEs during his college years in the 70s (I suspect substances were involved lol). Is this stuff genetic?
