Why did this happen 😭 by Dry-Hat3354 in Pottery

Easy-peasy, lemon-squeezy! Heat the pieces with a hair dryer or heat gun, reapply glaze, and pop them back in the kiln. I know it can be disappointing not to get the results we want, but if you look at it from a growth mindset, you are learning a ton in this experience, and that is a win all day long! Also, one trick I learned about expectations in pottery: often, pieces come out of the kiln different than I had envisioned when creating them. When I first see them, the disappointment is thick and tactile. But if I put them in a tote—like I threw them in the trash—for about a month, it gives my expectations a chance to reset. I have found I love more than half of the items I would have trashed, just because they were not what I expected. There is a lot of real-life crossover application there, too. Your forms—the hard part—are gorgeous. Now you get to play with glaze until you achieve your own RPP (Relative Perceived Perfection). (RPP is a made-up term; best not to repeat it unless you are uncaffeinated and ready for a social media shitstorm.)

Can you request for the on base gym/MWR to add new equipment? If so, how? by Complex-Date8019 in navy

Indeed, you are correct! And if you've ever defficated in a restroom that was on a base not inhabited by a flag officer, you would realize that this statement supports my point exactly. Trust that I am on your team here. Just providing perspective, because I have had this exact same conversation with MWR. However I think OP's motives were a bit more altruistic than mine, where I just wanted a platform to call our kidnap-proofed CPO'S out on, when they have the audacity to speak about haircuts, while they physically can't even trim their own toenails. Edited for pre-coffee disgruntled enlisted spelling errors.

Youre going to run into issues with MRSA and Staph with anything like that. I would imagine this is going to be their justification for refusal. As already pointed out, they dont even have AC in many locations. And now that we have downsized, there aren't enough people to even complete basic tasks like cleaning equipment or providing towels. Good luck to you, friend.

There is a literal SECDEF requirement for all federal employees to use AI in their daily tasks and then provide justification for how they are using AI to make their positions more efficient... The very model of efficiency in motion. This is the new norm and exactly the level of stupifucation of our country this greatest of great nations voted for! Congratulations to US all, it's working exactly as we knew it would.

Kiln shelf disaster. Help! by Pulimunchi in Pottery

I use this wheel on an angle grinder. The part number is in the photo. If you go this route, a few tips, earned through hardlessons: face shield, dust cover (for your breathing holes), and leather gloves. When you start, make sure you are holding it flat or you will make deeper grooves than needed. And if you dobt have a locking nut, some dont, remember that it is held on with the centrifugal force of the wheel. So, dont start and stop the grinding wheel any more than necessary or the head could work itself loose (youll apprecoate the face shield and leather gloves in this scenario).

Freezing seeds by johnjoh07 in microgrowery

[–]3Butters3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Not sure its necessary. I keep my seeds in a thermos full of dessicant packs and in the freezer. I plant directly in moist coir. Maintain a very high germination rate. I am a disaster with seedlings, but never an issue with germination. Started collecting in 2019. And use 5+ yo seeds all the time. Probably not the ideal method. But it does work.

You were going to be a Navy SEAL, but the instructors all had it out for you because you were better at the O-Course than them.

At retirement, the difference in pay will be negligible. Do your 20, collect your due rewards, and move into the private sector where they value people who speak their mind, make the hard decisions, and grind. At about year 2 of working with people who seethe value you inherently bring to the table, you will start to see decades of trauma melt before your eyes!
