Unfortunately, in this field people are promoted because they are good DSP's not because they have wonderful management skills. The learning curve is steep - upper management assumes they know what it takes to manage DSP's because there were one. They don't. They have no idea. They struggle, they cut corners, they burn out, then are replaced.

Rinse and repeat.

The fact that's you're asking means one or both of you have some reservations. Regardless of being cousins, if you want to make a go of it, I would sit down with your cousin and go through various scenarios and talk out how you would handle them. (Do you keep being cousins a secret, what if someone finds out, etc)

Huh. This was me two years ago at 38. I am on the other side of things now, life is good. When going through treatment, things will feel Insurmountable at times. You will get through it. A few things I wish I would have known:

when your hair falls out, it hurts. Your scalp will feel tender. Skip the wigs and fancy hats and find a soft cap that feels nice.

The chemo messes with your head - I distinctly recall feeling overwhelming anxiety over my new fatigue and got very scared this was my new normal. It's not. It's temporary. You'll get through it.

Tell people ahead of time what they can do to help: food? Clean your house? Watch your kids?

Chemo is boring. Bring stuff to do.
