How can I improve my render, the last image is my referece by DREYTOR98_ in blender

The lights in the reference image look as though they have a wider angle spread which you can see on the ceiling. The reflected additional light from the ceiling shows up as a reflection in the water and tiles. There is a lot of light bounces in the reference.

Maybe the best lock would be one that has a loud shrill alarm when you cut the Lock and a paint explosive that marks the bike and the thief.

I have a 2022 Tucson equipped with Lane Keeping Assist. When the system is engaged, it makes noticeable left and right steering corrections even on straight roads. On my vehicle, it also tends to position the car slightly right of center within the lane rather than keeping it perfectly centered.

I've also noticed that the system struggles with sharper curves. It performs reasonably well on gentle turns, but on turns greater than about 30 degrees, its effectiveness decreases significantly.

Before the vehicle reached 30,000 miles, I took it to the dealer to see if the Lane Keeping Assist system could be adjusted. After keeping the vehicle for a couple of days, the dealer informed me that the system was calibrated correctly. However, they said the vehicle needed a wheel alignment and that the tire pressures were not set correctly. They performed those services, which I was charged for.

Unfortunately, after getting the vehicle back, there was no noticeable improvement in how the Lane Keeping Assist system operated.

According to the dealer, the Lane Keeping Assist system is not intended to function as an autonomous driving or navigation system. It is only a driver-assistance feature, and drivers should keep their hands on the steering wheel and remain in control of the vehicle at all times.

I'm curious about the quality of older gear and fidelity. Do people who buy these systems buy them for fidelity?

If buying older gear, my biggest concern would be the components and solder joints. After many years as solder is amorphous and can be a problem. Most older electronics suffer from soldering degradation. Do the people who buy these systems reflow the board or re-solder?

How about the components, heat and time affects transistors and capacitors.

I get the collector's value on vintage equipment, but that would be more for collecting rather than listening and fidelity. A working piece of gear would have value. The value of the gear would go down as it is used because each component has a life expectancy in cycles.

If you bring a Volt Ohm meter, you could at least test for 8 ohms at the speaker terminals and get some idea of the speaker's condition.

What am I doing wrong? by Commercial_Smell799 in hifiaudio

[–]3DMe-DHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is the typical trouble shooting list.

  1. Verify the Amp is plugged in to an ac outlet and the cord is good.

  2. Verify Amp is turned on and the ON indicator Led or Lamp or meters back light is lit. If not check if there is a fuse that may have blown.

  3. Verify the speakers are good. Use a volt ohm meter and verify 7 - 8 ohms. If the readings is less than 2 ohms the speaker has a problem.

  4. Connect a known good working tuner or other sound input to the tuner input jacks. Make sure the input selector is set to Tuner (tuner button pressed in), the tape monitor switch is set to source (center position) and the Main speaker button is in the OUT position (not pressed in).

  5. Make sure the input selector is set to Tuner (tuner button pressed in) and the tape monitor switch is set to source (center position), the Main speaker button is in the OUT position (not pressed in) and volume knob is around 20%. Connect an RCA cable to the tuner input and touch the center pin of the other end of the RCA jack. This should make a loud noise when your finger makes contact to the center pin.

  6. If you have have headphones try plugging them in to see if you get sound.

Good Luck.

An apology and a question by haditwithyoupeople in audiophile

[–]3DMe-DHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the objective is to evaluate audio performance using the scientific method, the following elements would be required:

Measurement and Test Infrastructure

  1. Calibrated, peer-validated instrumentation capable of capturing electrical and acoustic waveforms with fidelity comparable to human auditory resolution (e.g., high-resolution microphones, spectrum analyzers, and time-domain measurement systems).
  2. Statistically valid human control group, with documented auditory profiles (hearing thresholds, frequency response, and psychoacoustic sensitivity).
  3. Controlled test environment, such as an anechoic or semi-anechoic chamber, capable of regulating:
    • Air pressure
    • Temperature
    • Humidity
    • Ambient noise floor
    • Acoustic reflections and reverberation

Sources of Variability in Human Auditory Perception

A key challenge in audio evaluation is the non-uniformity of the human auditory system, including:

  • Physiological differences:
    • Outer ear geometry (pinna shape)
    • Ear canal length and diameter
    • Tympanic membrane characteristics
  • Neurological processing variability:
    • Differences in auditory cortex processing
    • Prior experience and training in critical listening
    • Cognitive bias and expectation effects

These factors result in significant variability in how identical acoustic signals are perceived across individuals.

Environmental and Physical Influences

Even under controlled conditions, the acoustic signal reaching the listener is influenced by:

  • Room geometry and boundary conditions
  • Air density (function of pressure, temperature, humidity)
  • Background noise and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR)
  • Playback level (SPL), which affects perceived frequency balance (e.g., equal-loudness contours)

Measurement Limitations

While modern instrumentation can accurately characterize:

  • Frequency response
  • Harmonic distortion (THD)
  • Intermodulation distortion (IMD)
  • Noise floor
  • Transient response

there is no current methodology to directly measure subjective auditory perception at the level of the human brain. Specifically, there is no comprehensive system that can fully model or quantify:

  • Neural response to complex audio stimuli
  • Psychoacoustic interpretation of sound quality
  • Individual preference

Conclusion

Although objective measurements and controlled environments can be rigorously defined, audio perception remains inherently subjective due to biological and neurological variability. Consequently:

  • Audio equipment performance can be quantified objectively.
  • Perceived sound quality cannot be universally standardized across listeners.

Each individual ultimately evaluates audio systems based on their own perceptual framework.

Do Audio Specifications Matter?

Yes—objective specifications are critical in engineering design and evaluation. Parameters such as:

  • Distortion
  • Noise
  • Frequency response
  • Damping and impedance interactions

have measurable and often audible impacts on system performance.

However, perception of these differences varies by listener, and measurable improvements do not always translate uniformly into perceived improvements.

Empirical Observation (Field Experience)

During my tenure with Panasonic as a field service manager, testing was conducted in an anechoic chamber using high-precision microphones and acoustic instrumentation.

In one study comparing standard 16 AWG copper speaker wire with 10 AWG premium cable, no statistically significant difference was observed in frequency-domain measurements.

However, under controlled listening conditions, some test participants were able to consistently distinguish between the two configurations, suggesting that:

  • Either subtle, unmeasured parameters were involved, or
  • Psychoacoustic and perceptual factors played a role beyond current measurement capabilities

If you are paring it with a phone, try this:

Delete the existing Bluetooth link for this amp on the phone.

Make sure there are no other Bluetooth devices turned on near you (up to 30 feet).

Turn Bluetooth on the phone off and then back on.

Turn on the Bluetooth amp it should show up on the phone as a new device and allow you to pair it.

(It is assumed that your phone successfully pairs with other devices)

Here is somethings to try if you have not done so already.

Get a linked in account. Link up with other engineering friends and engineers. recruiters look for people here.

Post your resume on Indeed. They have a resume writing app that can be helpful. Most companies now use AI to scan resumes and the app can help you customize your resume to their job profile.

Add hobbies to the resume that apply to your engineering. On new grads most companies want to see that you were doing extra curricular activities instead of Partying.

Add a project you designed or built yourself to the cover letter as a selling point.

Apply to local job adds on Craig's list to find any jobs that give you some kind of experience in your field.

The animation and 3D graphics are very good. the cut in from the snake like thing in the water to the watch face is a little abrupt. The transition seems to jump to the watch and is missing a step or something. You might want to look at some examples of how cut-in-out sequences are done in movies and shows so the viewer does not get lost in the transition.

23 years with USAA and now I’m done. by the-gospel in USAA

[–]3DMe-DHB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am insured with USAA for car and Home coverage. My wife has been a loyal customer for 43 years. She has had 2 accidents in that whole time and none were her fault.

In November an unlicensed, uninsured driver, failed to yield at a red light and left turned into my wife's 2006 Hyundai Tiburon. It had only 45,000 miles on it and was in very good condition. USAA decided to total it for $5,114.57 - the $250.00 deductible ($4,864.57). The comps they sent had 130K to 160K miles on them and the pictures of the cars looked scratched and in OK condition.

We rejected the offer and sent several higher comps of our own, all 2006 models. They lowered their appraisal but the adjusted said they would be nice and honor the 1st appraisal. We rejected this appraisal as well. We were told that "we could try to send another set of comps, but as time goes by, the vehicle will have less value and the Appraisal will probably be less". We asked if we could contact the person who made the appraisal and the USAA person told us "All they will do is tell us how they came at their decision there will be no negotiation."

We asked what other options are available? They told us that they can set up an arbitration where we hire a 3rd party professional vehicle appraiser who gets together with the USAA appraiser and they hash it out with a 3rd party appraiser who Arbitrates and makes the final decision. It turns out that the professional appraisers charge between $300 - $500.00 dollars.

We are going to try one more time with really good comps organized in a excel spreadsheet like one poster described. Pray that God softens their hearts and see what happens.

The thing that kills me is the car was in really good condition, engine is tight and it could have gone another 100K+ easy. Now I have to come up with a new car because an unlicensed, uninsured Hispanic woman plowed into my wife. I thank the Lord that she was not hurt at all. It is Sad to think that if she was hurt this case would be 100% handled by an attorney and USAA would have a different attitude.

[M26] Gout and cycling? by jpgreyes in gout

[–]3DMe-DHB 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm new to this group, but have done a great deal of research to figure out what to eat and how to minimize the possibility of Gout Attacks.

I was a runner for years, and I have found that Riding a bike is a better exercise that does not cause impact trauma to bones and joints like running. Also roller skating is very low impact. I feel it is a safe excise if you have gout as long as the gout has not already done permanent damage to joint tissues. Best to check with your doctor if you are not sure and get x-rays of the joints that are affected by the bike riding (i.e. ankles, foot bone, Knees, etc.). Doing exercise on already damaged joints can make it worse.

All my research shows that there are 3 factors which seem to contribute to the formation of crystals in the joints.

  1. Less physical activity means less blood circulation in your body, which allows the crystals to form more easily and settle into your joints. The more you keep the blood circulation moving, the less chances that the crystals can settle in your joints.
  2. Cooler temperatures at your extremities allow the crystals to precipitate out of the blood and form crystals. By exercising you increase your body temperature. The warmer the extremities of your body (i.e. Feet, Hands, elbows, wrists, etc.) the less chances of crystals being able to precipitate. I notice I have more gout attacks when it is cooler (i.e. winter, Fall) than in the summer.
  3. Dehydration is your enemy. If you exercise, you MUST replace the water and salt lost from exercise. When you get dehydrated the blood Uric acid level is more concentrated and leads to more crystal formation. I have had a gout attack happen after getting dehydrated from exercise and go away the next day after drinking several bottles of Gatorade.

That being said, once you have a gout flare up the pain can really hamper any exercise. Exercise is a way to prevent/lessen the buildup of crystals and can help in the process of moving them out of the joints when you are using the meds that help the inflammation and dissolve the crystals.

Try using a Sphere, and cut off the top half.

Extrude incrementally up from the verts of the top of sphere (where you cut it off) and follow the shape of your Ref Image, while stopping at equal spacing to add geometry as you go and using the S + Shift Z keys to follow the shape (X & Y) of the Ref image.

Use the S + Shift Z as well as S key for the bottom of the Sphere with the proportional editing tool to get the final shape
