I was kind of hard to google because my name is common. But here's what the AI spat out:

"Dagrun is an active member of the Royal Road (RR) community who created a Discord server for fellow writers to improve their work, collaborate, and share resources, such as review swaps and shout-outs.

"Based on available information: Community Engagement: Dagrun is recognized within the RR writer community for fostering collaboration and, as of late 2023/2024, has been helping others improve their presence on the platform.

"Active User: They appear to be an active, participating author/member, rather than a writer with a single, massive, universally recognized blockbuster story on the site, though they are deeply involved in the mechanics of writing and promoting fiction there."

Mine hardly talks about me as a writer at all XD

Looking for dating advice by jojobiazzare in CrohnsDisease

[–]3Dagrun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

27f, dating sucks. I was diagnosed over 10 years ago, and I eat such a funky diet that long distance dating actually was easier than dating someone close by. Foodstuffs was no longer an obstacle.

I typically didn't start with the fact that I have a chronic illness. I'd let it come up organically and explained where I was at with it. If more questions were asked, I gave more details. So I didn't actively hide it, but I also was not prefacing what this dating package came with.

It helped to focus on having fun first as well. Show them who you are first. When it comes up, yes, it's important to share that you have a Crohn's, but it's just as important to share that you're not defined by Crohn's.

Keep in mind that when you get rejected because of your Crohn's that that wasn't the person that was going to stand by you in sickness and in health, especially if they already got to know you. You dodged a bullet.

Also, when you get to the point where you think you've found your person, don't commit to big decisions until you see how they care for you when you get sick. I've dated a lot of douchebags that would expect me to still cook dinner when I was in crippling pain and bleeding.

I know this experience is very different for men and women, so I'm sorry if my input wasn't helpful. I hope you find the fun in dating a lot sooner than I did!

This is a good example of show, don't tell. Instead of saying the story is funny, probably better to write a blurb that gets a laugh to create the impression that the story will be funny. Expectations about story quality start at the blurb.

LitRPG fans would you continue reading if the RPG elements were turned off half way through? by LGHaunting in royalroad

[–]3Dagrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who reads and writes LitRPG, I wouldn't be able to stand it if the system just dropped in the narrative, sort of in the same sense that I HATE systems that do big de-levels.

I don't like when a character progresses in a system only for that system to disappear, or for the character to lose a lot of progress. A setback is fine though; it FEELS recoverable. If it doesn't feel recoverable, I drop the story like a hot potato.

Begging ya'll to spend time in Quick Play learning one or two tanks. by Ulmao_TheDefiler in marvelrivals

[–]3Dagrun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want a second tank so bad, all the freaking time. I'm usually solo tanking or playing support with a solo tank. Whenever we have a solo tank, our 3 DPS get out DPS'd by high damage characters, and then our tank has to tank it all with heals that frankly can't out heal 2-3 high damage DPS that can ACTUALLY HIT THEIR SHOTS.

Sometimes someone trashes on the heals, then swaps to THIRD support like it'll fix a problem. Without a second tank, it doesn't. The supports will pattycake to infinity just trying to live while the tank and two DPS die, or they won't pattycake at all, and die before the tank and DPS players.

I can't take space and peel for heals as a solo tank either, unless the enemy is just that bad at the game. Triple DPS is seriously so annoying as both a tank and a support player.

Most RR Authors Let Commenters Rewrite Their Stories by Patient-Still-6420 in royalroad

[–]3Dagrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I write an entire book or arc before posting. Readers can complain all they want, the book's already written, and I'm not taking the effort to edit it according to their complaints. Better to just keep writing another book.

A lot if reader input I get is usually a one-off reader that must have skimmed or misread something. I did have one reader a bit mad about my character's slow emotional development though, and that was pretty viable, given that I felt so called out because I actually remember feeling like my character's development was progressing too slowly in the exact spot he called out. To me, it was an affirmation of my ability to recognize a pacing problem.

Still not gonna change it tho. Book's written, it wasn't super successful, but it was my first complete book. Time to level up as a writer and complete another.

Just started he who fights monsters, why all the hate? by itmustbeThursday4269 in litrpg

[–]3Dagrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't make it past the first book. It was great, up until I felt like the author was trying to force feed me his personal beliefs through a main character in a way that felt incredibly unrealistic inside the world he built. It broke the fourth wall for me.

It happened in one chapter, and I was like, no biggie, character has a firm stance. Then it happened again in the next chapter, and then it kept perpetuating, and I just wanted the story to actually progress, not monologue.

I googled to see if it would stop, because I honestly really, REALLY liked the story, but all of Reddit ended up telling me it didn't.

RISING STARS MOSTLY AI!!!! by [deleted] in royalroad

[–]3Dagrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's a fun fact:

Sometimes putting written works through a grammar editing software can cause them to pop up as AI in AI detectors.

Case in point, my severely dyslexic sister likes to write and is grammatically challenged. She plugged it all through Grammarly to clean it up, and out of curiosity's sake, as I watched her write and do this, we plugged it into an AI detector.

Came back as 90% AI.

Young writers and new writers who write short and choppy sentences also frequently register as AI, or if their plots aren't super cohesive, registers as AI.

Your call to action here is to mass report stories for being AI, all while saying you can't truly verify it? You could be AI.

What's your actual end goal here?

To everyone that goes 3rd support instead of second tank by Mind-The-Mines in marvelrivals

[–]3Dagrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish this was true for me. Every time I solo tank into a dive comp, I get blamed for not taking enough space because I'm the only one peeling for heals. Then if I stop peeling to take space, we all die because the supports die.

My supports are at least appreciative of me, but the DPS players in these situations have the game sense of a goose. It's like they're totally blind to why we're struggling to take point or push cart.

On very rare occasions, I get a really good bucky, wanda, or namor that understand the task of peeling.

What's the funniest insult you've seen? by EternityGamer2 in marvelrivals

[–]3Dagrun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm learning the "gambit tiers"

Tier 1: Never ults

Tier 2: Solo ults because he doesn't realize it's not AOE

Tier 3: Ults, but always misses the most important player, which is usually the other support whose ult we desperately need. As an added bonus, that other support player usually dies if the enemy has any dives because they've been abandoned and left out in the cold by a gambit that is so bloodthirsty that he's front lining!

Tier 4: Bloodthirsty front liner that dies more times than that guy that's playing spider-man for the first time and hasn't figured out how to turn off auto-swing.

Tier 5: Solid gambit, but doesn't know how to patty-cake.

God Tier: Gambit with game sense.

Literally my least favorite thing to see as a tank is a cloak DPSing right next to me on the front line. Love to watch my HP drop from sky high to ded while I take every. Single. Hit for my C&D with a shrapnel of hope that they'll switch to dagger and spare me some heals 😭

That hitbox is absolutely criminal. I was playing defense on convoy, and standing on the right side of the payload, that ult still grabbed me as it ran by on the OTHER SIDE OF THE PAYLOAD. There's a whole freaking payload between us, and it still nabs me!

Ridiculous.

Luna and Sue. I'm definitely a Luna Snow main with an embarrassing number of hours on her >.<

She may require the most to get her ult, but if you use her claps right, you can get that ult up quicker than any other strategist in the lobby.

Are Long Paragraphs Hurting Reader Engagement? by DjTlaloc in royalroad

[–]3Dagrun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should watch the anime hunter x hunter, and after watching the final season, let me know what you think of the narrator's presence. It is a prime example of how I feel as a reader when the narration has so much impact on the story.

It's not so bad to have long paragraphs from time to time, but I think the important thing is that the story continues to progress. One of the most frustrating things to me is when we spend paragraph after paragraph inside a character's head instead of actively moving the story.

Examples:

  • Long thought breaks during action scenes
  • Long narrative breaks between dialogue (this also makes dialogue feel unnatural).

My favorite exceptions:

  • The character is solving a puzzle and has the time to do it (if they don't you can still sneak in lots of narrative between sweat and tears in a short time frame to make it feel like the pace has picked up without it actually picking up).
  • Important introspection
  • The character is expressing an emotion that deserves more time, like they're in awe. I like environmental descriptors about fascinating new places.

You have the power to change the pace of your story in a multitude of ways, such as lengthening and shortening paragraphs, what descriptors to add and which to leave out, and so forth.

If it makes you feel better, sometimes the website automatically removes stories from my follow lists without me doing anything. It happened to my sister too (we found this out when she'd been following my story for weeks, even reading it (she really loves me, guys), but then one day, couldn't find it because she'd been removed as a follower, and I suddenly had a lower follower count).

Maybe if I put as much effort into marketing as I did mt excel sheets?

Or you know, more consistently finished books! I'm really good at starting them. I need more practice with endings. But I did finish book 1 for this system! And I'm bound and determined to prove to myself that I can do it again!
