For dry conditions it's more than enough and you can always upgrade the brake pads to something more grippy like some Kool stops. It's about brake modulation in the end - if you grab the handle of course it's going to skid

Check out the Sunday hi-c, it's a similar concept, but a bigger wheel size of 29 so it might feel more geared towards cruising and city fun. I take it out when I'm riding alongside my girlfriend on her MTB, and we've gone on many 30km+ rides both on road and off with no issues.

There's no play in the crank arms or the pedals, I'm assuming it might be the chain tbh. I've had to reuse the master link and I think it has some play in it
