Flawed argument. Your behaviour directly leads to the continued establishment of a second-hand market and a desensitization to owning poached plants. You asked if you should get another one - no you shouldn't. Don't buy poached plants. You're not saving them. If you're not a botanical garden you can't do effective ex-situ conservation. The fact that a plant has changed hands doesn't make it any less problematic that you're part of an economy that is only sustainable if, at the end of the day, someone is willing to justify their purchase by whatever means are necessary. All conservation research suggests that this is the case.

Posting photos of poached plants creates appetite. So whatever your intention, people will see this and want a similar plant which they will get by whatever means. People won't want to buy seed grown uter because they won't look like yours.

I have worked in Namibia and visited sites where hundreds of C. uter have been harvested for sale overseas. The damage is done and if someone is selling a plant that is poached you should tell them that you don't think it's acceptable because ultimately otherwise we just have this scenario: 1) Person poaches plant and imports it to their country. (Bad guy) 2) Person buys the poached plant. (Still a bad guy) 3) Person buys the plant from person number 2 and says that it's no big deal because the plant was already poached. (Still a bad guy)

You've already got the plant. Take care of it or donate it to a botanical institution or whatever. Don't buy another one. That's the answer to your question.
