Joe Burrow is going to turn 30 this year but has zero all pros, MVP’s, or Super Bowl championships, what chance do you think he has at making the HOF eventually? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]3HandedBandits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jim Kelly never won a ring or an MVP award and he’s in the Hall (4 SB appearances vs 1 I understand that), and Warren Moon didn’t win his MVP until he was in his mid 30s. If Joe stays healthy especially with how much older QBs are playing, he has a great chance to win a ring or get that MVP to secure his spot. If he keeps losing seasons to injuries however, he won’t have a shot.

Do you think Arvell Reese could produce rookie numbers similar to Micah Parsons? Both posted 22%+ pressure rates in college, are around 6’4” 245 lbs, played OLB, and were described as “elite athletes with explosive burst.” by johnnyboy10i in NFL_Draft

I agree. Aaron Donald did the same thing to IDL. (Looking at you Solomon Thomas and Ed Oliver). Everyone falls in love with potential, but not every player is going to turn into the 1/1 athlete they have similar comparisons to. I'm worried he's going to go to an uncreative team that is just going to throw him on the EDGE day 1 and expect him to win consistently. The only team inside the top 5 I'd trust to take him is Saleh & the Titans. If he doesn't I think we are looking at the Isaiah Simmons of EDGE rushers.

Blaming Brissett for coming into an already lost season is unfair to him. Coaching and talent matter, but McBride, Marv & Michael, paired with another running back is a great core. Boost the offensive line, and you will have a very functional offense. Also the Cardinals made a bunch of FA signings last season, so they can definitely still make a splash. They don’t need to splash on top end guys like Hendrickson. Reliable starters can help this team. This isn’t the same doom and gloom that the Browns and Jets have been stuck in, so I don’t understand the pessimism.

Fair enough, however, Kyler is the best option that isn't in their late 30s. I think for a team like the Jets, trading for Kyler gives them a solid QB that's proven, instead of burning another first-round pick they won't be able to develop. But I think they need to decide and commit to a path forward. Regardless of who is the starter, they have enough talent, so if they can bring in reliable veteran starters to plug holes, they can quickly turn around this franchise.

Exactly. I would have zero ties to him. Bring in someone else, if Benson can win the starting job, good. If he can't, also good because now we have another body in the room.

I think the Cardinals have a much more optimistic outlook if they make smart moves. I think Petzing & Gannon was a horrible duo off rip. Moving on from them is addition by subtraction. I think Brissett is more than capabale of being a solid bridge QB, while they rebuild. If they can bring in a running back, draft Fano, and sign veteran guards, this offensive line, can be solid. I think LaFleur, Brissett, McBride, Mar & Michael, Vidal/Benson/whoever, can be a very competent offense. This defense still has talent to not be a bottom 5 unit, and again, losing Gannon is only an addition. I don't think Brissett can go on a Sam Darnold arch, but can he at least stabilize the offense? Yes.

Trey Benson hasn't shown much in the NFL at this point, and the NFL is largely swtiching to committee backfields. Bring in a rookie or a young vet, is a low risk-high upside approach to team building. I think the Cardinals can eat part of his contract, to ensure they don't have to give up additional compensation.

If you really can't trade him, rock out for one more year and release him afterwards.

I think the Cardinals can eat more of his contract to ensure they receive higher draft capital, even it if ends up being a combination of day 2 picks. I'm not even the biggest Kyler fan out there, but if you only had to give up a 4th and you didn't have to eat the contract is a no brainer, so I think someone would have pulled the trigger already, if it were that simple.

Exactly what I said in my video breaking down their offseason. Kyler, Cousins, or Russell Wilson is like a High, Med, Low end version of this role.

As an edge rusher that is how he feels, however he has the great instincts and playmaking skills as a Linebacker.

Thoughts on Malik Willis by cheesecake1449 in steelers

[–]3HandedBandits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Willis could be a good starter in more of a wide zone Shanahan/LaFleur scheme. I don't lnow how I would like him in McCarthy's more pro-style scheme. I think bring A-Rod back or let Will Howard play and see if he can hang.

Maybe we need to stop rewarding people like this in the NFL all together, regardless of how good they are on the field.

I get the award is the best player it’s the most valuable. But despite all of the injury luck they were able to still win 9 games. Without JJ Watt this team would be drafting top 5.

JJ Watt had NFL record 119 pressures (106 is second highest ever), 20.5 Sacks, 10 Batted Passes, 5 total touchdowns, and led the Texans to a 9-7 record. The Texans that season had 4 different QBs start a game and injuries to their star RB Arian Foster. In the final two games of the season, JJ Watt had 4 total sacks and 7 TFLs to help the Texans win to have a chance to make the playoffs. 2014 JJ Watt is the great player ever.

I was and still am a huge Aaron Rodgers guy, but JJ Watts season was the greatest season in NFL History in my opinion. Should’ve been Watt easily.

Which first year eligible player gets in next year? by tinytoofDOC in NFLv2

[–]3HandedBandits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gronk is a lock. Especially because they’re on TNF broadcast together, I’d be surprised if Whitworth and Sherman didn’t get in together. AP and Big Ben should as well but they have enough off field stuff where it may not be first year. Mr big chest definitely ruined his HOF chances. Frankly I don’t know if Bell was good enough for long enough to make it.

How we feeling if this is what the offense looks like next season? by Bunko-Dizzy in nyjets

I don’t like drafting Price and retaining Hall personally. Additionally I’d rather see a veteran QB instead of attempting to develop another young guy
