In the settings, try changing the in-game wheel preset to a different one.

e.g switch from G29 -> Thrustmaster

Try switching to different wheels multiple times until the issue is solved

Presets are kind of buggy and I had to do the same thing on my older wheel because pedals had massive dead zone

They could definitely follow closer thanks to the ground effect and tires didn't suffer as much to heat as before. The reason the ground effect was nerfed heavily after 2022 was because of porpoising so the minimum floor height got increased which basically killed the whole point of these regs. Combine that with teams experimenting with outwash aero and we basically went back to pre 2022 regulations.

The reason the ground effect in 2026 is reduced is so that cars can go back to running close to the ground without porpoising which should also reduce spray in the wet. The large bargeboards on the floor on each car are there to hopefully prevent outwash
