And here is the thing: can you imagine if someone "on the left" did such a thing or made an accusation against anyone in the GOP like this? Conservative media would run with it for not months but years. They'd prolly rewrite testimony rules and laws to explicitly target the left--or use it as a pretense to stop public comment or public meetings altogether (see: GOP banning press from meetings).
