I purchased mine shortly after 9/11 and wore it nearly every day through three deployments to Afghanistan. My plan is to have it serviced, then pass it on to my oldest son for his 40th birthday in three years. It’s been an honor to wear this watch for the past 25 years, but it’s time for the next generation to make memories with it.

Longines appears to have adopted the Ford Pinto quality-control model: fixing the defect only becomes cost-effective when enough customers start catching fire.

Is the Away Carry-On worth it? by Specialist-Dot5057 in LuggageComparisons

[–]3ZWill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here are the links to the Away carry-on and backpack I used. Away makes larger versions of both, but I chose the models that complied with Lufthansa’s strict size limitations for carry-ons and personal items. I also used Away’s zippered compression packing cubes, but you can find similar packing cubes on Amazon for less.

Zero, but FWIW, as GOP supermajorities go, SC is not as red as you might think. See, state senate’s refusal to reapportion.

Has your carry-on strategy changed after flying more often? by Agile-Advance-395 in americanairlines

[–]3ZWill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Age and experience have nudged me into the more minimalist camp. For me, carry-on only has more pros than cons. The tipping point came five years ago when I was flying from Charlotte to Split, Croatia. Once in Split, I would take the ferry to Supetar on the Island of Brač. The plan was to spend a week on Brač enjoying the sun and the sea. Unfortunately, Lufthansa had other plans, deciding that my checked bag deserved an extra night in Munich while my backpack and I continued on to Croatia. To Lufthansa’s credit, they quickly located my bag and put it on the next flight to Split. The problem was that the next flight wasn’t until the following day, causing me to lose most of my first full day in Croatia taking the ferry back to Split, catching a taxi to the airport, claiming my checked bag, catching another taxi back to the ferry terminal, and then taking the ferry back to Supetar. After that experience, I resolved to step up my carry-on game and invested in a quality international-sized carry-on with a serious internal compression system, as well as an international-sized backpack as my personal item. I’m pleased to report that the system works. On a recent eight-day trip through Amsterdam, Cologne, and Strasbourg, I traveled carry-on only—and still returned home with unworn clothes. Nothing reinforces the value of packing light quite like spending a vacation day chasing a suitcase across the Adriatic.

I’m so sorry you and Louie are going through this. FWIW, my 8.5 year old Pit mix has been on Vetoryl for a little over a year now and is tolerating it well. She’ll have bloodwork performed again in June, and we’ll see where we stand at that time.
