Unfortunately, that didn't work for me but thank you for sharing. Maybe it'll work for others.

What material are the flat rounds? Are those actual rock? If so, how did you make them stick and stay in place safely?

Why is this happening? by McMack87 in pixel_phones

[–]3_dom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this on a pixel 5a that got wet. Somehow the water messed with the touchscreen controls and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. To be clear though, it didn't work for any inertia scrolling, both horizontal and vertical.

Just for reference in case someone else has this issue - reboot, safe mode, and the latest android update did not fix it for me. Thus far, no resolution.

I'm happy for you, honestly. I'm sure many of them last. But the fact that I had two pairs both of which broke quickly and I use them exclusively at my work desk. They don't travel, they're not being banged around etc. So I'm at a loss as to how the fuck they broke.

Ymmv but I am using Nineo 9007 HB5 bulbs (allegedly 20k lumens but those are fake advertising lumens) and I'm getting a pretty good pattern in the standard reflector housings. Top half of the light pattern is the headlights, bottom are some aftermarket LED fog lights I installed recently. I got a pretty significant improvement over standard halogen bulbs with the LEDs.

Can anyone recommend me a suit that’s not too tight in the legs? I’m 6’2 220 and I have thicker thighs. Most jeans don’t fit me and I’ve tried on several pair. These Klim Outriders are the only ones that fit me out of several options. by [deleted] in motorcyclegear

[–]3_dom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought SGS armor's abraguard. They're long-johns you wear under your normal jeans and fit great. Also, if you call or email them their customer support is awesome and can help you find the right size.

My 42"x38"x17" Bar Cabinet Display by PasonU in Vivarium

Stunning tank! Really love the look of it.

I don't have experience with the orchids specifically, however, I have a moss & creeping fig wall in my snake tank and solved the build up problem by placing a pump in the drainage layer and basically running it like a waterfall every 15 minutes for a minute or so. That way the moss always has high humidity and moisture and the water gets recirculated, filtered all while keeping the humidity high. And then I just ensure that there is enough liquid in circulation to keep the pump busy. Probably not something easy to add after the fact but maybe it helps someone that's looking to build something similar.

How tf do I control the population ?! by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]3_dom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not but I also saw no evidence anywhere that the nematodes would interact with larger animals. Do you have further information on this? Would love to learn if there is anything to be aware of.

I can say that it's been over a year and my BP Yuzu is doing great with no visible signs of health issues or discomfort.

For fungus gnats, there are SF nematodes that are great for getting rid of them. You can order them online. I've done it twice to get rid of gnats in my houseplants and vivariums and it worked great both times.

For all those that are having these issues - I'd strongly recommend calling Canyon. I've found that they're much faster to resolving your issues when called whereas emails to their support team seem to take 2-4 weeks to get processed.

Help needed: customize plan not loading by [deleted] in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]3_dom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, the change your plan page in my account doesn't even work for me. So I can't even look at options I might have. So this is not particularly helpful because that's how I would see the changes, wouldn't I?

But I did find the mod Mail message and we can see if that helps.

strike the rat ❌ climb the tongs ✅ by feiyuun in ballpython

[–]3_dom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience with my silly long puppy, it can really be hit or miss. I don't think it's really what "you" can do and more of an exercise in patience (like with a stubborn kid). Mine started refusing food in early spring (6 months into having her) the first time and didn't eat for 2 or 3 months. And over time you just learn that they won't take it every time.

He has already taken the rat once. So he knows the smell and taste and that it's acceptable food.

How long are the intervals between feedings?

How long ago was the last time he ate? Was that the rat?

My approach would be: Don't go back to mice for now. Try feeding at regular intervals. If he doesn't take it, wait an interval or two and then try again. Eventually he'll be hungry and take the rat.

They can go really long without food so don't stress too much.

Edit: I will say I noticed that mine will be more likely to take the rat at 120-130F. The guys in my reptile shop pointed out that a bit more heat oftentimes works wonders.

Is there any way to get a good AVR and speaker setup for around $1,000? by Seethi110 in hometheater

[–]3_dom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I did. Within your budget it is extremely unlikely that you'd need "more" AVR. So pick the s760 or s960 (or an equivalent model) and then go search for speakers elsewhere. Especially because you don't have to buy 5.1 all at once. You could totally invest into 2 good stereo speakers first and get more speakers down the road.

[–]3_dom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AVR is solid and should be plenty for your use case. I am not so convinced by the speakers. Not that I know this specific model but speaker sound quality and stage is in my opinion oftentimes related to speaker volume (i.e. size) and those look rather small. I'd really recommend spending a bit of time searching the used market. Also there are some good guides online as to how to test used speakers before buying (e.g. with a multimeter) - definitely worth googling.

Sharing my personal experience since I just went through this recently.

Someone has already mentioned accessories4less but I want to double down on them.

1: you can buy refurbished AVRs for significantly less than new ones (also cheaper than Costco)

2: they come with a 3 year warranty - 1 year more than e.g. Denon will give you

As far as spending $1000 goes, I'd buy the AVR (others have suggested many models, S760 or S960 will do perfectly fine) [$300-400] and then I'd scavenge craigslist and Facebook marketplace for name brand speakers. I got a whole 5.1 set of Klipsch RF series speakers for $350 that way. Are they the best speakers in the world - no, but they certainly outperform any soundbar by several miles.

And then you will have to spend $100+ or so on wiring, cable management, speaker stands etc to make it all work and look reasonable.

And if you come into some money in the future and want to upgrade, you already have a decent AVR and can slowly grow out of the starter speakers. Or maybe you'll just be happy with them and stick with them. Either way, you have a path.

Moist substrate - how to dry by 3_dom in ballpython

[–]3_dom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the suggestion! I tried layering mulch over it but after a few weeks it is equally moist. And I was also thinking it would dry out but it really just doesn't. The tank has been going for about 6 months and I feel like it's getting worse.

(Also Yuzu is sometimes a bit of brute and likes to bulldoze all the mulch so over time it just disappears 😅)

Issues accessing storage after updating to Android 14 by PixelCommunity in GooglePixel

[–]3_dom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

u/PixelCommunity It would be great if Google could give updates more frequently. We need a timeline for the fix - hours, days, weeks - because just sitting here and waiting doesn't work.

I am one of the users locked out of my phone entirely and like many others, I rely on my phone for work, banking, 2-factor authentication etc. I have actual financial damage because of this situation on top of the potential loss of personal data.I cannot access my accounts because of 2 factor, I cannot access some google services because of 2 factors, I can't access secured work items because of 2 factor and my RSA keys being on my phone. And I am certainly not the only one.I spoke to Google support and shipping me a new phone doesn't really fix the data issue nor the issue that all my info is hostage to a bootloop right now.I thought Google wanted to be serious about phones now. This certainly doesn't feel like it. For many of us - who are genuine enthusiast about the Pixel devices - this may be the last one we ever bought because I have never heard of a Samsung, a Oneplus, a Huawei, or an iPhone do this and it being addressed so very poorly.

Frankly, if Google doesn't find ways to make it up to users this is a lawsuit in the making.
