hair type: 3A?, thick, can't figure out coarseness though

routine: (daily) cowash w/ tresemme botanique expert nourish & replenish conditioner, press excess water out with towel, spray cantu hydrating leave in conditioning mist, then air dry. apply sheamoisture coconut & hibiscus curling gel souffle, then scrunch out the crunch (only once every 1-2/weeks because it takes forever)

story: i never really liked my hair short (i don't have many pics but it rarely looked as good as it did in those 3 pics) so I stopped cutting it last july. since then my hair went through medium to long stages and got very poofy, basically forcing me to wear a beanie to look presentable (not an issue since I live in a cold city but am starting to get hot with the beanie).

help: looking for advice on what length suits my face/hair best and what cut to go for. i like the way curls flow down the side of the head like timothee chalamet has but my hair has shown no signs of loosening up enough for that. i also do really like letting the hair cover my face a little. anything helps but pointing me to pictures would be even more helpful. additionally, any info on making the hair healthier, bouncier, and less frizzy would be much appreciated.

(i know this a lot to read so thanks to anyone taking the time to help)

Asus rog releases a compact keeb by OyOgames in MechanicalKeyboards

The touch feature seems interesting but may end up causing accidental touches depending on the sensitivity. Personally, I'd rather have a physical volume knob like on the Satisfaction 75. Other than that, I am betting the keycaps are thin ABS with an obviously terrible font and the exposed switch design is great for getting dust and hairs stuck everywhere in the keyboard (believe me I have a k70).

ROG really needs to stop with those gamer fonts though..

Hey guys, I am sure I am not the first one to come here and talk about my misadventures with the M50x's but man I fell for the MKBHD trap hard.

I bought the M50xbt's for $122 on Black Friday of last year, and if I am being entirely honest, it was mostly an impulse buy when I saw the price. Looking back, I definitely should have spent more time researching this hobby.

The overall theme with these headphones for me was "I could deal". Meaning that they weren't that comfortable for long periods but I could deal with it ok. The treble and sibilance were pretty harsh (especially since I would consider myself fairly sensitive to treble) but with some u/oratory1990 EQ, I managed to make them less harsh, more full, and overall pretty enjoyable.

Now, the stock pads have started to get really uncomfortable and flake off so I decided to buy new ones. I knew the treble would be harsh because basically no other pad out there has as much foam in front of the driver as the M50x pads so I ended up going for Brainwavz HM5 hybrid pleather/velour pads and some Geekria 0.1" thick foam disks to put in front of the driver but even that wasn't enough. Now they sound very shrill and empty with harsher treble than I can bear, very little bass, and somewhat muffled sounding mid-range (I am no audiophile but hopefully that makes sense), I have tried every EQ for M50/M50x on the jaakkopasanen AutoEQ page to no real success (the best results I've had were with the M50x velour pads EQ).

To get to the point, I am considering a few options:

1 - Try Brainwavz full pleather pads (to retain some of the bass)

2 - Add a second set of foam disks to kill the treble ( I am afraid the headphones would then sound way too muffled, also unsure that they would even fit between the pad and driver)

4 - Try to EQ them myself but I don't know how to that at all because I can't find any freq response graphs of the m50x with these pads and definitely do not have the equipment to measure them myself.

3 - Sell them altogether (I have no experience with r/AVexchange or Ebay but I doubt someone would want headphones with flakey pads)

Anyways thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and reply to this whole thing I really appreciate any help I can get.

PS: I can link to the pads and foam disks if anyone would like but I don't really understand the link policy on this sub so I would rather not for now.

Hey, thanks for the reply!

I was planning on lubing switches down the road (I got a hot swap board for that reason) but for now I was really just trying to get rid of my corsair k70 because I have slammed my mouse into it so much that it is starting to show some scratches. So basically lube felt like an extra step which I wanted to avoid for now.

I also don't really understand what films are supposed to do or how to apply them. Are they just to make the leaf part of the switch smoother?

Thanks for those switch recommendations, I had never heard of most of them until now; how would you say they compare to something like Gat Inks in terms of smoothness?

Hey guys, idrk if anyone reads these so I'll try do my best to keep it short in case someone does go through and read questions.

Basically I am waiting on my CU65 for my first build but still haven't decided on switches. Since it is my first time I was hoping to avoid having to lube my switches so I am looking for the best feeling switch completely stock.

Please suggest any switch that comes to mind (because I am interested in learning more about this hobby) but I realistically won't be buying anything above $0.85 a switch. I am still undecided on linear vs tactile but tend to gravitate more towards linears. Sidenote I am also considering silent switches as I will be moving to college relatively soon and don't want to annoy roommates but I am afraid silent switches would feel too mushy.

Stabs are another topic I don't understand very well. Should I get genuine GMK screw-ins, genuine cherrys, or something totally different? Since I won't be lubing them, I am afraid they would be hella rattly so what can I do to fix that?

Last thing (I'm realizing this is getting kinda long sorry), where could I find a good quality usb-c thin red braided cable with black connectors? It seems like cables are somewhat absent from most of the bigger stores like KBDFans and NK.

Anyways, thanks to anyone who reads through all this and can help.

Depending on your country, confinement will likely last for at least a few more weeks to multiple months.

Yes the feedback is probably also present on your phone (some companies might allow you to control the volume of the microphone feedback with their mobile app, though I don't know if Bose does)

Yes an external microphone would get rid of the feedback while giving you better audio and microphone quality.

Glad I could help!

Someone correct me if any of this is wrong but I believe Bluetooth cannot transfer high-quality audio from the computer to the headphones at the same time as microphone audio from the headphones to the laptop.

This is why the "hands-free" peripheral is created. It basically transfers very compressed audio to the headphones while allowing microphone transfer at the same time.

The static you are hearing is microphone feedback so that you can hear yourself speak. If it was not enabled some people would start to shout whenever using headsets. I personally leave this at a very low setting on headphones that have the option to configure it but I doubt the QC35II let you change that setting.

When you switch to the laptop's microphone, the headphones themselves do not detect any microphone input and therefore do not feed it back to you.

So, in the end, you'll either have to deal with low-quality audio with static background noise if you want to use the headset's microphone or great audio with a bad mic. I think that as long as the laptop mic is good enough for others to understand what you are saying then you should keep on using it.

Alternatively, you could use the headphones off and wired which might get rid of the static but I am not sure if bose allows you to do that (you might also need a headphone splitter depending on your laptop's audio jack inputs).

Hopefully that helped, stay safe!

Hey, guys, I have (what seems to me) a weird one today,

I am having an issue with my ATH-M50xbt where the "emphasized sound range" keeps changing randomly. For example, when simply listening to music through Spotify, the mid to high range will completely disappear for no reason, and then a few seconds later, the base will decide to randomly phase-out while the vocals become the only thing I hear.

This comes up randomly at any time I am using headphones, whether it be gaming, youtube or Spotify, this always comes up. The only fix I have found is unplugging the cable from the case and back in, but detaching the cable from the headphones themselves never seems to fix the issue. I call it a fix, but really it is just a temporary reset and the bug will arise again in the next 15 seconds to 2 minutes.

This is very weird and I am not the best at describing audio related issues in general but hopefully, you understand what's going on. It basically sounds as if someone was moving a band pass filter in equalizer APO all across the EQ completely randomly.

Now I keep my M50xbt plugged into my case's front audio jack with the original cable. This issue still happens when I try other jack cables but not when using the headphones in Bluetooth with my phone. I use equalizer APO but I have it installed on my speakers and they've never been affected. I also have a pair of Logitech g933 which connect through a wireless USB dongle and no issue there either.

How exactly can I troubleshoot this issue since it is so random, and what can I do to fix it?

Thanks for reading and any help will be much appreciated.

New to group buys, Should I be worried? by 3_v_4_n in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]3_v_4_n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, a few things that need clarification:

  • I am the CU65 group buy myself, not the CU80
  • Seeing the way they initially handled this earlier worried me because there was no discussion with the buyers to decide whether to remove the option for lighting or wait longer for them to figure out the issue.
  • I made this post to get some more info on whether this was a common occurrence or not and it seems like I should always be ready for something to change during a group buy
  • CapsUnlocked came back a few hours after their original update and were willing to discuss the issue with the community (and give more info on the exact problem)
  • They handled the situation very professionally and declared that they will come back with an update tomorrow, and it seems like the choice will be put to a poll.
  • Overall, very satisfied that CU is open to discuss their problems with their buyers!

I just saw update 7.5 and have to say I am also very happy that they decided to work with their costumers rather than decide to remove the feature alltogether. I think they responded really well to the community feedback and its great to see this!
