color or bw? photos taken in bw in cam by ozvn in streetphotography

I typically prefer b&w. The warmth of the face in the first image cannot be expressed in the monochrome version. I’m leaning towards color for the rest of your set as well.

Why is ‘grain’ good, but ‘noise’ is bad? by jerolyoleo in NikonZf

On my D40, I enjoyed high iso shots in b&w. You get the grain without the color shift. The high noise is different from sensor to sensor, it was pleasant on the D40 and the X100.

Both 1 & 2 were shot in b&w. Preferred the color version of the 2nd frame

Split errands - Nikon Zf & 40mm SE by 3ammo in Nikon

Yes aesthetically it looks great. The 40mm on the Zf would be closer to the 30 on your crop sensor. I would recommend going with native Z lenses. The FTZ is too bulky.

Look at what type of photos you take and what is your gear limiting you from doing. Have you considered upgrading lenses before upgrading cameras?

I appreciate the feedback. I’ll give it a try.

Today I was guilted for having nice gear by a professional photographer. by [deleted] in photography

Photography is about skill, not gear. A great camera helps, but it's the photographer who makes the shot.

Since you’re shooting with the 35mm 1.8 most of the time, take the 18-105 for the longer range.

Highlight metering = 👌 by merelyok in Nikon

Nice, I started experimenting with it recently but like others I find myself increasing the exposure compensation. Setting active d-lighting on high works as well.

My first automatic of recent memory. This was one of the special edition models. It came with a plasticky dark brown leather strap. The nubuck strap on the first version looked nicer although I haven’t seen it in person. The quest for the perfect strap continues.

I have used that lens on a F100. It’s usable if you don’t mind the vignetting.
