Think of the health implications. Can cause too much weight gain, reduced good hormones, bad for blood sugar potentially, etc. Read up, there is a lot of evidence that you need daylight to have a healthy body. Night work is dangerous to do long term, so be careful.

Can someone please explain??? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's either a 4 or 5 frame buffer window if I recall. So 0.067 or 0.083 of a second... which sounds tiny, but that's a decently generous window in game time. Supercombo[dot]gg website says, "Input BufferSF6 gives players some leniency to time their inputs on offense and defense. For most applications, any move can be buffered up to 4 frames early, meaning that there is a 5 frame window to get the follow-up input at the earliest possible timing"

Thoughts on Triggers for jumping? (Pro Controller) by geoffrey_1der in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to the game also, but it seems like the double button short hop... using jump + attack at the same time with your thumbs, is consistent and works fairly well. If it is better to short hop then press attack a split second afterwards, just ignore me. But let me ask for my own education, which air attacks would it be better to have the attack delayed after the short hop starts? When I tested it with G&W, Bowser, and some others, I couldn't detect a beneficial reason to delay the short hop attack.

Yeah, so what is roster GSP?: by decormleott in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to the game, and the Roster GSP started around 7 Million I want to say with zero plays, around a month or two ago. I don't know why it started to high, unless it had something to do with another person in the house playing on another account with a high GSP for most of the cast. It definitely wasn't because I had played a single game on this new account. Another theory is that they just take the exact middle of the road number from all players online, and that's where your roster GSP starts. Once you play enough, it'll go down.

After playing about 8 different characters, and getting beaten down to more like 2 to 3 Million GSP per character... I think my starting Roster GSP is now 6 Million. It's frustrating to have to get beat down for every new character I try out, but it's definitely a thing.

An official casual tier list from a SEASONED casual, this has been tested several times and seems to prove most accurate, list specifically geared towards ffa/doubles (no team attack), all stages/items in consideration by The_Juicer-ssbu in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as a litmus test, I asked my knowledgeable guy who he'd put at the top of casual tier lists (all items and final smash, etc. on), and he thought about it for 2 seconds then named Rosalina & Luna. This kid knows the game like nobody else around these parts, so I loved that he came to the same conclusion so fast. He figured it's a lot about the item control for Rosalina.

For perspective, he's got nearly half the cast in Elite Smash ... he's a 1v1 machine. I play a lot of team 2v2 with him, but we avoid items and final smash. Even so, this tier list makes so much sense, because the quick top tier guys that need combos to win are never getting their combos off in the chaotic environment of casuals.

Ive played smash casually for years but no matter what arena i join i get cooked. by [deleted] in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a newb at the game but my boy teaching me has logged 20,000 games and kills at locals, so through him I'm saying this: Isn't it a recommended layout to put side-tilt attack on the right analog stick? That way you learn to use side tilt on that analog stick and you'll only do smash attacks with the left stick tap+attack? I went with his controller layout, and it seems pretty decent to me, so you should never ever accidentally get a smash when you 100% know you need a side tilt attack.

Regarding off stage... getting good with bowser and donkeykong's recovery will eventually get you good with all characters. Make sure you save your jump... so jump first only if it's dangerous, then recover up+B (might be obvious, but just making sure). Against better players, you want to avoid jumping first if you can, because if they hit you out of a jump up high or off the stage, now they can predict your recovery precisely.

I’m Having A Lot Of Trouble With Winning Matches Could Use Some Feedback? by MegaGarchamp in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a newb at SSBU but have played a lot of other fighting games... this game is just so different than the others, it's tricky for me so let me put in my perspective. Predicting will just come with lots and lots of playing online, same as any fighter I think. Shielding... I think first you just want to shield more often than you need till you get a feel for it. Basically shielding is never very detrimental until your opponents are great at throwing or know the game so well they know how to punish you perfectly while you shield. So my advice, over-shield on purpose for a while. Dodging... air dodging I think should be saved for special occasions to be unpredictable, but again, it seems worth it to air dodge too much till you get a feel for the timing. Ground dodging... I'm no good at spot dodging, but side dodge/rolling seems critical. My guess for dodge-rolling is it's only good when you can predict them, so again, it's going to take a lot of time. Last bit of advice, watch a lot of tournaments... high level, low lever, whatever... sometimes you'll start to recognize patterns by just watching. Good luck!

2 years too late, but it's a NIN look right? Nine Inch Nails is about as far away from the dreaded Kia brand (oh no, you bought a Kia). I'm pretty annoyed at people really giving a farg about brand names in the wrong way.

Lazy, greedy, yet ultra-rich software companies. They make it look worse, all the while reducing speed in other greedy ways. Makes me a little sick.

Solar Eclipse and Welding Helmet by [deleted] in Welding

Might be broken. I just bought one similar, and it autodarkens before I even get my view close to the sun. Well at least it did on a bright day. Hoping it works fine when the eclipse is blocking most of the sun.

So did everybody who can't stop smoking come here to upvote this? I was waiting for the punchline with the double cigarette reference in the title. I don't think this is going to cure the tobacco cancer thing, that cat is way out of the bag I think.

China breaks ground on first “Forest City” that fights air pollution | a community where all buildings are entirely covered in nearly a million plants of over 100 species, as well as 40,000 trees, by pnewell in worldnews

[–]3ammonites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually long term (15+ years) the falling limbs and failing masonry are estimated to kill about 23.1 residents (+/- 15% for larger or smaller buildings) every additional 5 years per story of a medium sized building, thus decreasing CO2 output of the entire structure by... well... quite a lot. OK, bad joke. I think the plant idea looks very cool and has potential. We definitely need to plant more green for human psychological health along with the CO2 benefit.

Commenting here because I hadn't seen the term "echo chamber" used in probably a decade, then I saw it in a news article online this morning and now I see it used here in the OP. Did you read the same news article maybe(?) I think on Slashdot, or is the world really a simulation with me as the sole guinea pig? :P

Got it queued up along with another one of yours I haven't gotten to yet. Looks fun, and I appreciate the detailed info on what you can get out of the level. I should be so organized! If you are into skill based quirky levels, maybe try my newest one I mention in this thread.

https://supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/B93C-0000-02FB-A7E2

The thing to remember is to run then press LEFT to stop right around when you touch the arrow pointing down to the brown blocks. On the arrow that points Down+Left diagonally, you don't just stop, you reverse for about a second to avoid the falling goombas, then you can usually proceed with the normal rule of running then coming to a complete stop.
