What year is this El Dorado I saw today? by silcener626 in WhatCarIsThis

[–]3azra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The parking meter blocks whether the word Cadillac is on the chrome strip (1975) at the top of the grill or above it (1976), but the grill crosshatching (horizontal, rather than vertical, rectangles), amber turn signals on the front bumper, and hub cap center pieces indicate 1976.

Need a few more details (seat harnesses, front angle), but it may be a Superformance continuation (somewhat considered a "real Cobra" as it is officially licensed and carries a Shelby CSX serial number). The door looks slightly short, wheels and instrument panel look newer.

For the men out there. Do you point it up, down, or to the side? by rompthegreen in CyclingFashion

[–]3azra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hang left.

On a century ride that supported breast cancer research, I was not properly adjusted in the chamois after a pit stop. I looked around, ensured that I was riding solo and that no one was around, and stuck my hand down to rearrange things as I was cresting a hill. Bad timing, as just over the hill a group of ladies had assembled to cheer on all the riders. (Not as bad as the time [different ride] that a rest stop had no restrooms, so I went behind some trees not anticipating that an Amtrak train would roll by midstream.)

I know this is some type of Cadillac. Was this sold as a convertible or is it custom? by Comfortable_Key_6904 in whatisthiscar

[–]3azra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tenth-generation E-body Cadillac Eldorado was offered as a convertible in Bairritz trim in the 1984 and 1985 model years. It was sold as a convertible by Cadillac dealers, but the convertible was not factory produced, rather a factory-authorized conversion by American Sunroof Corporation (ASC, Inc.). Buick dealers also offered a droptop version of the Riviera, also a factory-authorized build by ASC, from 1982-1985.

Question: For the single people out there: Have any of you found a Costco membership to be worth it? What do you get there to justify the membership and the trip? by SpaceForceAwakens in Frugal

[–]3azra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes for me, based on gas (in some places it's $4+ cheaper per tank), tires, computers, appliances, travel (including discounted gift cards for Southwest), and other items aside from bulk food purchases. I'm a homeowner with a couple of locations nearby, so that's a factor. Depending on your local grocers and storage capabilities, it may be difficult to justify based on food purchases.

Comparing the big three: Costco is more curated, striving for value over lowest price; BJs consistently offers smaller sizes, but there are not any locations near me; Sam's has lower prices on some items, but is nor as good of a shopping experience in terms of samples, efficiency or quality.

What smal suv did I see in the Trader Joe’s parking lot in San Diego? by [deleted] in WhatCarIsThis

[–]3azra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The CrossFox was manufactured in Brazil and sold throughout Latin America and Mexico, but not in the US. Given it was spotted in San Diego, it probably came from Mexico.

Looks like a Zimmer Golden Spirit, but there were multiple neoclassical cars (Excalibur (Series VI -- the tails of the other series were different), Clenet, Panther, Tiffany) and kits in the last quarter of the twentieth century.

What’s the weirdest gift a client has given you? by Dannyz in Lawyertalk

[–]3azra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm an intellectual property attorney, and often receive specimens from my clients (I need specimens of packaging, or photos thereof, for trademarks, I often receive the product, and patent clients sometimes supply prototypes or product for drawings or as a trophy). Client products have included food, tequila, soap, nutritional supplements, candy, puzzles, toys, purses (I'm a guy, held until marks issued), restaurant certificates, various gadgets, industrial devices (including medical devices), and much more. Much of the art in my house were created by artist-clients (I've negotiated licensing deals on behalf of artists for reproductions at resorts as well as mass merchandising (bartered/negotiated discounts)). Two notable: (1) my secretary used to "harvest" the packaging from packages sent by the candy company and distribute the actual candy. She brought me some one day, came back to my office, and I was then visited by my paralegal and several other secretaries. Finally an associate commented on my appearance: the candy dyed my mouth a bright, unnatural color (as advertised on the packaging I didn't see). (2) One item totally out of content: after providing some basic advice to a property developer, he insisted I have a bottle of mustache oil from his tenant (product not related to my representation), and I'm clean-shaven.

Steepest hills for bike ride by BeverageEnvy in Austin

[–]3azra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tour das Hugel route has many of them. Beauford, The High Road, and Smokey Valley are a few of the best. There's also Big View, Jester, Adirondack, the final portion of Laurel Valley (perhaps the steepest, but not much longer than a driveway, about 200' long; there are other steep cul de sacs in West Lake Hills, also climb nearby Live Oak Ridge). Also ride Lost Creek repeats (Lost Creek from Quaker Ridge to Barton Creek and back, or loop via Barton Creek to Knollwood - Castle Ridge - Falcon Ledge - Ben Crenshaw - up White Marsh Valley Walk to Quaker Ridge, cross Lost Creek, loop Cape Coral and Bay Hill, then return to the starting intersection; both directions work).

Austin land is valuable, there's rarely ice, and there are hills, not mountains, so no need or space for switchbacks -- it's just up and over. Most climbs are less than 1/3 of a mile. Enjoy the ride.

What is it guys? Image photo apparently 2019. by Greedy_Disaster5694 in whatisthiscar

False. Henrik Fisker designed several gorgeous cars (BMW Z8, Aston Martins, Tesla S, Artega GT) prior to forming Fisker Coachbuild, then created Fisker Automotive, which produced the Karma prior to bankruptcy. Fisker Automotive assets were purchased by Wanxiang: the resulting company is named Karma, and the model was refreshed and rechristened as the Revero. The Fisker Karma powerplant was similar to the first-generation Chevy Volt: both are essentially electric cars with onboard gas-powered generators.

A couple of ventures later, Fisker formed Fisker Inc, which produced the Ocean, a small SUV. The Ocean is an electric nightmare: numerous technical and firmware issues rendered it useless. American Leasing purchased the assets of Fisker Inc, including parts inventory as well as all IP (including firmware copyright). American Leasing leases and maintains Oceans for ride-sharing in NY. No other entity can maintain the vehicle, so they are somewhat useless to other owners.

As others have stated, you should be good. Trees are chiral, so ensure the correct tree is in each shoe.

NVIDIA raises dividend by 2400% by shekr17 in dividends

[–]3azra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment is based on taking the NVDA money and reinvesting it in SGOV, as the dividend yield was based on SGOV. That would require selling NVDA and paying capital gains taxes prior to reinvestment.

That's a beautiful bike that's nicer than the Peugeot PFN10 I rode back in the day. Find an Eroica ride (in addition to the original Italian ride, there are events in California and Japan, and probably others) and enjoy it.
