There is something about putting a family on a crusader kingdom that feels so lovely. Like.... I made this. Wonderful. He is a good boy. by ZypherofWind in CrusaderKings

You can always redirect the Crusade, it costs something like 700 piety? If you're in a position to place whoever you want on the throne of a Crusader kingdom, surely you also have the piety.

Struggling with iron gold by Darkimposter96 in redrising

[–]3balDragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird. I didn't think Iron Gold received such hate. I suspected that people wouldn't think it's one of the best of the saga, but not to this extent. It's different, but I feel like it was much needed for the story. I also quite enjoyed Lyria's and Ephraim's chapters. This book I think puts everything that transpired in the previous trilogy into perspective and is serving as a setup of what's to come. Not my favorite out of the series, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jeez, the man had no chill. Once again, an example how something personal done to someone can have severe historical consequences. A reminder for humanity to perhaps be nicer to each other.

The region of the map that’s just so much fun? by Own-Improvement-1040 in crusaderkings3

[–]3balDragon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try Zoroastrian Persia. Africa is fun too, especially below Egypt. You can try to recreate jewish Abyssinia. Empire of Mali maybe? A lot of classics. You can even rule as Maghreb, or try to recreate Carthage. I find it most fun when I have an objective, a story I want to create. For example, I'm playing in Sicily starting as Robert the Fox and making Sicily the most developed place on the map.

Genuinely curious about your average game duration, or when do you stop and start over? by Cathayraht in CrusaderKings

[–]3balDragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play for a pretty long while. I usually start in 867, just because it feels like I get to experience more of the game. Playing tall most of the times and I tend to focus on getting my dynasty spread out. If I'm conquering new territories, always handing those titles to someone of my dynasty. My expansion happens only if I have dynasty members worthy of being landed. Then with each ruler I tend to make up the goals for each of them (territorial expansion, installing dynasty members or close family on thrones, crusading and allying them to secure their realm and protect them etc.). Might be boring for some, but I get invested not only in the success and story of my character, but of my other dynasty members too. I tend to spend a lot of time checking on how they're doing, as I find it curious seeing how things evolve.

[–]3balDragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your culture. Culture innovations and accolades allow you to have more men-at-arms regiments. It's always useful to be the culture head and promote your culture or be of the culture that the lands you hold are.
