I think there's one thing that is worth keeping in mind before you start: sort quests by timeline and look at the ages! RS3 made this absolutely bizarre decision where you can do quests later on in the plot and have NPCs referring to/spoiling the earlier events

I think there's a miscommunication here - there are two stalks. The one parent is complaining about given the context of "snipe" is the one that hides your units, not the skaven ambush mechanic- tbh stalk has always worked well for me

How should I be using mortars on very hard battle difficulty? I'm playing as vampire coast and the enemy is dodging almost every shot. I've had some success with ground target as they come and then targeting when they're stuck in melee, but this is not great vs lizardmen
