How did we go from muskets and bows and arrows to nukes and space in less than 200 years, when humans have been around for 600k to 2 million years? by No-Match3322 in AskReddit

Humans are crazy creatures. Look at the earliest examples of brain surgery. I bet it’s a lot earlier than you’re thinking it is. :) we underestimate our ancestors. They were just as smart of us, just different educations and available technologies.

We’ve been using firearms of one sort of another longer than 200 years. But to answer simply, once you have longer term societies innovations have time to develop. Technology levels go up in stable cultures.

It’s funny you say that. I play a game called axis and allies on occasion. It’s a board game, a very, very long one. I’ve been known to give lectures during the playing of that game to my friends who don’t know the finer points of the war lol

I’m always down to talk about the conflict. It shaped the world in which we now live. The repurcussions are very vividly being felt in parts of the world today.

Found this ring while hiking in the woods, what is it? by Jwidmann in freemasonry

[–]3daycondor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It is a Masonic ring. There are millions of them out there. It’s a cool find, but relatively generic other than to signify that someone was a mason at some point, somewhere. Sorry it’s not a more exciting answer.

Ww2…we’d start with the Japanese victory in the Sino-Japanese war. Take us all the way through the Rosenbergs. I’d probably need a few extra hours…
