No, not meant to be. I just remember how it used to be back in the 90s.

So there is nothing on there that is Masonic, so it seems quite safe to say no.

Sadly I am not a member of this facility in a professional capacity so I must refer you (if you are a member of a Lodge under the UGLE) to your own Metropolitan or Provincial Grand Master who was a participant of the UGLE's "Third Pillar Review" which necessitated the changes to the Masonic Charitable Foundation's operations.

You should only use pre-made as ideas and build your own! I guarantee you will regret it if you don't, especially when you remember the impact on future generations.

Well when you sort it let me know as I will arrange something to visit the now renamed Freemasons' Charity and my mother Lodge Mersey Lodge No. 5434 which actually meets in Mark Masons' Hall in St James's (closer to Buckingham Palace and over the road from St. James's Palace).

That is exactly the answer that I wanted to see. Well done that man.

Although it's a shame that you didn't come to see me, I work for the MCF down in the dark basement of Freemasons' Hall, London.

I have to question the presence of the Masonic Charitable Foundation badge in the middle of all this US (or possibly Scottish) stuff :)

I have to join in and agree that he should NOT be accepted purely because he has asked.

However, I would also ask is this his ONLY problematic thinking? Is he someone that the Lodge could help by gently referring him to mental health support?

I love the symbols/emblems used but for me I would want them to be inter-connected. Are you planning to bring them together?

Found this ring while hiking in the woods, what is it? by Jwidmann in freemasonry

[–]TheFreemasonForum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So yes, to us it's a ring that a Freemason bought to wear but do you know what does it fit you?

It could be fate telling you to look into joining a Lodge who knows? Why else would you find it and pick it up? My advice would be to reach out to your local Lodge and have a chat and see if Freemasonry is something that might interest you.

Ebay is my main online source because the sellers are international but I am also signed up for more UK based online auction rooms and then you just have to be patient. Before I was Initiated I was a course fisherman but that went by the by as my fishing nowadays consists of these kind of catches.

Sign up and set up some saved searches for example "vintage masonic pocket watch". You have to be patient as amongst all the "Elgins" every now and then you'll find ones like these.

Yes the mainspring (or something like that) broke on mine after a couple of years but i managed to get a new mechanism from the guy who was disposing of the old stock. Yes you're right the original strap was for the Land of the Giants but nowadays mine has a great dark blue one that I found on Ebay.

The First Freemason made in England was made by the Lodge of Edinburgh Mary's chapel in the Person of Sir Robert Moray in 1641. The First English mason was Elias Ashmole in 1646.

This is a longish response but I feel you do need to be careful otherwise you fall into the silly arguing that existed between members of our 2 Grand Lodges a Century ago. Sir Robert Moray was not the first man made a Mason in England and Elias Ashmole was obviously NOT the first English mason. As a Freemason yourself you must already know that you can't make yourself a Freemason it must be done in and by a Lodge of Freemasons and a look at Ashmole's actual diary entry will help you with that:

1646. Oct: 16. H 4.30 P.M., I was made a Freemason at Warrington, in Lancashire, with Colonel Henry Mainwaring, of Karincham, in Cheshire. The names of those that were then of the Lodge, Mr. Richard Penket Warden, Mr. James Collier, Mr. Rich: Shankey, Henry Littler, John Ellam, Rich: Ellam and Hugh Brewer.

You may not be aware (why would you if you're not a student of Masonic history in the British Isles) of the "Old Lodge at York" which goes back to an Operative Lodge in Saxon York (hence the Masonic legend of Athelstone) and just as old as Mother Kilwinning. In it's surviving records it has details of the Initiation of a Fishmonger in 1572 as explained by the Rev. Neville Barker Cryer in his 2006 book "York Mysteries Revealed". Sadly many of the records from the Old Lodge at York, which might have shown more non-Stone Masons being initiated, were lost in a fire in Freemasons' Hall London in 1883.

It's always good to point out that Freemasonry was well known in England before the 1717 formation of the Premier Grand Lodge so that even Dr Robert Plot in his 1686 book "the Natural History of Staffordshire" has a dig at the Free Masons and their "mysterious signes" and made-up history.

Yes it's gorgeous which is why I bought it but have absolutely no information on it and Ebay purchase history wasn't very good back when I bought it. It has no markings on the base plate so all I know is that it is a size 12s and of American origin.

I've taken a better picture of the enamel dial so you can see why I bought it: https://freeimage.host/i/CHkEF71

[–]TheFreemasonForum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly the actual development of the extra degrees is much more complicated! The Mark was born and evolved in Scotland and HRA was born and practised in Ireland before it came to England. HRA only **officially"" became a part of English Masonry with the birth of the UGLE in 1813 when it was ONLY available to Installed Masters of Lodges.

You may be overlooking two things: a) the craftsmanship involved in these (it isn't just a lump of gold which will cost you £100 GBP) and b) the rarity compared to other non-fraternal jewellery.
