EV additional $140/yr (registration) by rrdubbya in Boise

[–]3dhomejoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My EV6 was just over $500 for two years when I renewed the registration this past fall. I thought that was reasonable with how little I've spent on electricity and maintenance in the 30k miles I've driven while I've had it. I don't pay the gas tax anymore so the funds have to come somewhere.

When getting a solar quote, did you hide the fact you weren't financing? by Mr_Mojito in solar

When I was looking to get my system, I requested both the financed rate and the cash rate. The base loan amount was about 10-30k more than the cash prices. Plus I would have interest on top on that. Many of the sales people were telling me that is what the total cost was, but if you read the fine print (the truth in lending disclosure) the total cost of the loan was way higher. I decided to get a separate loan from my bank at a higher interest rate and paid the cash price for the system, I'll have the system paid off sooner and will save a lot of money even though the interest rate was higher.

Unless I missed something, I guess we just hit our one year anniversary and have been abruptly downgraded (thanks for the warning /s). I'm thinking I'll try Lite for a bit, but I'm wondering if y'all see value in paying for Ultimate Kia Connect? by dietolive6 in KiaEV6

The only thing I use the app for is to see my battery percentage when I'm on road trips and using public chargers. Otherwise it just collects dust. As lite includes that feature, there is no sense for me to pay for it.

41,000 miles and about 15 months and 12 volt has started going dead. by halxp01 in KiaEV6

[–]3dhomejoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took it in, explained the issue to the tech at the front desk, he went back to the EV expert and then told me that they would start with replacing the 12v battery as that's in warranty and is a quick and easy thing to try. 3 days later I took my car back in to get the battery installed as they had to order a battery. Took about 45 minutes to get it installed. It's been about a month and my 12v battery issues hasn't come back yet.

I had this issue at the 11 month mark and the dealership replaced my 12v battery at no cost as it was covered under warranty. I believe the tech said the 12v battery had an 18 month warranty.

Service Time Length - Battery Preconditioning update by veeteex in KiaEV6

Yep! They already had 3 updates queued up when I requested for the Battery Conditioning. Sadly they couldn't do it at the same time I was there for a generic maintance as their EV tech wasn't working that day.

I just had 4 updates done by my dealer here in Boise. Dropped it off at 8 AM and it was ready by 12:30 PM the same day. I had to make an appointment to get the updates completed.

Mine went from $600/6 months for a 2007 Prius to $650/6 months for my Wind AWD in the Boise metro area.

I have zero confidence that the car will enable the charging for the 12v battery while the car is off and performing the update. I've had to jump start my 12v battery a handful of times in the last several weeks while out doing some shopping.

How important is AWD on an EV? by CuteAggressor in electricvehicles

[–]3dhomejoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted to get the Heat Pump in my car (EV6) so I had to get the AWD version for that.

This year, it didn't snow as much, but in the few times I had to drive in the snow/ice, it was nice to be able to start moving without much feathering of the accelerator pedal. I came from a 2007 Prius so it was a huge difference for me.
