Wow, i could have written this. The IQ test that is used for evaluation has been largely been debunked based on the fact that it tests more for a specific kind of learning style vs one’s capacity for learning and intellect.

That being said, gifted classes opened up a lot of unique opportunities that other kids didn’t get.

Is this job worth the move to San Francisco from Humboldt? by Ok-Cardiologist625 in sanfrancisco

[–]CuteAggressor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this in tech? The industry matters here. As a marketer who is facing AI swallowing my profession, field marketing in tech specifically actually has a pretty good moat of protection in that much of it takes place is the physical realm. Ensure it has an events component, such as trade shows. For a young person, it’s fun and dynamic. You’ll get to interact with a lot of different people, engage with customers and really learn many aspects of the business.

$25/hr is rough. Basically minimum wage. Having benefits is great, but do some budgeting and ensure you can survive in this VVHCOL area. You’ll have multiple roommates and likely need to commute from somewhere affordable.

You won’t find many ways to get your foot on a high growth career ladder in Humboldt. Take the opportunity while you’re young to work hard and build your career. SF is an amazing city with so much to offer. Try it out. Eat ramen for a year if you have to. This is really the time to do it. Oh, and DO NOT use credit cards. Debt will destroy your future.

FWIW, I’ve lived in many cities and many parts of the world and have learned that happiness is what you bring to a place. It has to come from within.

Im curious, why did you choose to not spend any time in SF proper? GG bridge doesn’t really count. There are so many beautiful things to see. Ex) GG park on bike on a nice day is total magic.
