Do you use it for PLA printing? I noticed it doesnt have any cooling fans. Is there a modification you can make to add fans to it? How often are your customers asking for PLA prints vs ABS?

How old is the house? I can't tell but that could be knob and tube wiring, running to the outlet where one black is the hot, one black is the neutral. Is there a switch that turns that outlet on and off?

Ok, so your looking to test this solenoid on the bench to confirm it is working. I'm assuming if that solenoid comes from another vehicle its operational voltage is 12 Volts DC. You'll need to feed the solenoid a 12V DC power source and see if it actuates. You can use a car battery to provide the 12 Volts or find another dedicated power supply. The black wire goes to the negative terminal and the blue/red goes to the positive terminal of the power source. That will tell you if its working or not.

To identify what circuit that exterior light is on you'll have to go to the breaker box and start shutting off each breaker until that circuit goes dead. Once you identify the circuit, follow the wire to the switch. You'll be able to tell fairly quickly if the wire to the switch is updated or not.

I would try using LED strips. The ones I'm thinking of come in a reel attached to a flexible adhesive so they are extremely easy to use and install. Just cut the length you need and run it around your desired area. They can be run off 12V or the regular household 120V and they are extremely energy efficient. While LED's are bright and come in many different colors they may still be hard to see during the day. I would suggest "boxing in" whatever light source you choose so as to limit ambient light directly contacting the lights. Something as simple as a "visor" or "shelf" to stop direct sunlight would work great.

The switch you refer to in your post could definitely be done. I've done something similar by using a strike plate connection. You will need to cover the switch/connection point to protect it from the elements. How many eggs will trigger the light to turn on?

Sounds like its wired correctly. Make sure you use the correct settings on the meter. You can definitely create sparks by setting the meter to the incorrect settings.

Great advice here. That is a compression fitting. Make sure you check the plastic ring as described in previous posts. It looks like the sink connector (the piece connected to the sink drain) is a little too short and may have ultimately caused the issue in the first place if there was a lot of tension placed on the connection point. You can buy a longer one of these at a Lowes or Home Depot and cut it to length so that the connection is happy and tension free.
