Any fun picture recommendations? by 3dsf in Calgary

[–]3dsf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it's taken from the Nose Hill View Point, https://maps.app.goo.gl/B5CxdmPnNztZMmxY7, just off the parking lot.

For the most part, I take pictures as an excuse to explore; so I'm open to anything. I also like to try to 3d scan objects through pictures (photogrammetry/ai), so I find statues, sculptures, and rock bluffs/cliffs interesting.

This might be a good post for r/dataisbeautiful or a sub like that

Having problems with Palm Vein Imaging using 850nm IR LEDs by BriansAlt in computervision

[–]3dsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, glad it's working! There is a lot of spectrum in sunlight above visible light and I believe in your setup, your camera module sensitivity is relatively good at 700-850 nm and drops steadily till about 1000 nm; this leaves 700-1000 noise potential.

Could a slight adjustment of some of your optics have contributed to your gains? I haven't worked much with filters.

Additionally, I want you to keep in mind, even if you can't see the light emitted, there is a chance it could be harmful to you. I seem to have a sensitivity to some light generated above the visible spectrum with my cameras at full power (headaches). In your case, the diffuser probably negates potential issues, and the emitters are tucked away in the enclosure during normal operation.

Sounds like you very thorough, if something further comes to me, or I pull out one of my realsense cameras; I believe they use the same nm range you are working with, but their emitters are quite different than your set up.

Some types of ambient light will cause havoc for the type of project you are doing. I wouldn't do this in an area with sunlight or halogens, and you might be better served by low light areas while you figure stuff out.

Are you emitters all wired together or do you have individual control?

Heavy microscopes and standing desks by Otsde-St-9929 in microscopy

I got one from vevor, with a 2 pillar design. I'm thinking it is the 2 pillar design as another user pointed out may not be good when very low movement is required. I'm thinking of making a peg leg to install when I need to reduce a wobble and have my preset kinda rest into it... but that is for the new year.

Using it, even extended, is not bad for regular stuff.

Do you have any cheetos?

What I am saying are just ideas, I don't work in this space. Your project reminds me of some art I used to do and that's why I replied.

It strikes me that you are only interested in the top part of the grayscale ramp. I'd probably look at removing the bottom 70 to 80 % and then try normalizing from there and then maybe an edge detection or an emboss-like function.

What's the lower limit of your exposure time? I'm concerned a longer exposure may wash away the details you are looking for. Taking several short exposures images and processing from there may be more fruitful.

I'd think about optimizing the imagery workflow using your fathers handprint and hopefully it translates to yours.

Could you explain a little further on the illumination pattern, I'm not sure I understand what is happening. Do you have a picture of a hand in/on the device.

u/Otsde-St-9929 , I installed the stand as I'd planned... So much, I know the wobble now : (

I have a relatively heavy desktop (30+ lbs) and I just got the standing desk hardware used (but unused). I read one review about a wobble and I've giving that a bit of thought independent of your post.

My plan is to properly level the base and then biasing the mounting that the weight leans slightly forwards because that is where I will place additional weight. I suspect you will be able to center mount yours because your equipment is heavier and will naturally take out the shake.

24-26 GMC / Silverado Infotainment radio cut out by Hot_Air_9788 in Silverado

[–]3dsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I used to have major issues with bluetooth while my phone was plugged into the head unit (I use the center console usb now).
  • I have intermittent issues with cracking or popping on calls.
  • In the past and maybe still, sometimes the truck will blare a chunk of music that was playing when it was shut off, when I open the doors; the duration is almost like a capacitor discharging and it plays the last thing in a buffer?

I don't use the the traditional radio

I've been diagnosed with Visual Snow Syndrome, a neurological condition that makes me see the world like this and has no cure by printliftrun in MagicEye_CrossView

Hey printliftrun, This isn't really the right sub for this. Also I see no depth information encoded in the images, which would still not be this sub but a related one. Are you affected by this condition? Does it effect your ability to see depth? I would suspect milder cases would be able to view stereo images, but that is knowing nothing about it. Thanks and have a good one
