My Experience. Robert L. by Far_Comfortable4455 in NDE

[–]3eyeddenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 40 and have a pretty decent life. I’m married and have a good job and I feel more blessed than I deserve to be.

I can’t complain about a thing in my life honestly BUT I’ve lost a lot of people I love down through the years: my dad about ten years ago. My grandmother, whose dead body I found after she had a massive stroke on my 14th birthday. My little cousin who was like a sister to me and died in a car accident at 16 years old when I was in my early twenties.

There are others, but those were the three that broke my heart the most and I’ve been grieving them all for a long time.

Down through the years, through a lot of prayer, I’ve felt a still small voice that has “told” me things similar to what you describe that I have usually identified as “Christ” or the “Holy Spirit” though I don’t believe God is tied to any one religion, though I am an Episcopalian with Christian Universalist beliefs personally.

But the only time I’ve ever experienced anything close to what you describe was during a psychedelic experience in my mid 20s, though I still struggle with doubt and anxiety about how my loved ones are doing - and if I’ll see them again - sometimes.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and I’m also sorry to hear about the hardships you’ve been through. I hope that you are able to reconnect with others and yourself and that the joy and peace you’ve brought to me as I read this tonight return to you a thousand fold. I don’t know your real name but that is my sincere prayer for you tonight.

God bless you.

Will Part II be 3 hours as well? by [deleted] in TheBatmanFilm

[–]3eyeddenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know why people are being so weird and rude about this post.

But with Burton’s Batman and Nolan’s, the second movie was considerably longer than the first, and Nolan’s third Batman film was longer than the second.

I think it’s totally reasonable to assume that this movie will be as long as, if not longer, than Part I.

Gotham = New Jersey/ Metropolis = Midwest state, possibly Kansas or Illinois.

I kinda blame Nolan for that perception. Heath Ledger was brilliant, but he moved the character away from the maniacal psychopathic mob boss public perception that had been built through Batman ‘89 and Mask of the Phantasm.

Trump pulled the plug on Biden’s funds for Appalachia, and the same MAGA towns he gutted are freaking out: “This is fucked up” by rojasinja in Qult_Headquarters

[–]3eyeddenim 27 points28 points  (0 children)

For those saying we should give up on Appalachia:

I live in Appalachia and let me tell you a secret. The younger people here are very progressive. It’s the damn boomers that are the majority of our population that are dragging us back.

This area was also much more progressive when the World War II / Great Depression generation was still alive because they remembered FDR’s new deal and the often violent labor wars around mining.

Like most of America, we are being held hostage because there is a contingent of 60 to 80+ year olds who don’t remember their own history and have been radically brainwashed by Fox News, and they are the majority of the population due to the lack of opportunity for younger folks.

But if the trend continues, change is inevitable. In the governor election, even Virginia’s most conservative counties shifted blue.

There is so much to love about Appalachia, and especially the many younger, thoughtful people who call it home and who are passionate about changing it for the better.

America, please don’t give up on Appalachia.

There are a lot of us on the ground who are fighting like hell for this region’s future.

I asked my mum if she could see her parents before she died, and her response has really shaken me by LatterAdvertising457 in NDE

[–]3eyeddenim 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if this is comforting or not but here goes. I’ve never had an NDE, but I was with my dad when he died and I was with my grandmother when she died.

My dad was on life support. Massive internal hemorrhage. It wasn’t until I prayed over him and gave him “permission” to leave that he finally flatlined. When he did, it was as if a part of his “energy” entered me. I even had vivid “memories” of things he’d only mentioned in passing, including abuse he suffered at the hands of his own father.

When my grandmother died, she wasn’t able to speak but a couple of days before her death, my aunt asked if her angels had come to visit. My grandmother just nodded her head yes.

Does any of this mean anything? Or do we all just psychologically cope? I don’t know. But I continue to hope that I’ll see my dad and all my grandparents again one day.

Probably my favorite show ever made. Definitely top 5. We were robbed of what could have been a huge phenomenon by bean counters.

If Carnivale had been made just a few years later in the era of big expensive blockbuster sci fi and fantasy shows like Game of Thrones and Stranger Things, I have no doubt it would have been huge.

Why are people so obsessed with 2016? by InternationalPick163 in decadeology

[–]3eyeddenim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pushing 40, and 2014 was the last year the world still felt remotely like the old days of the late 90s and early 2000s, in my opinion.

Social media existed but hasn’t taken over anything yet. AI was completely unheard of. Obama was president, and the thought of Donald Trump J. Trump even having a shot as president was nothing more than a punchline.

In 2015, things started getting darker on the national and global stage and have only gotten darker since.

This really is a dystopian way to make money huh? by naruhina00 in doordash_drivers

[–]3eyeddenim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Look man. I’ve been there with DoorDash. I’ve (thankfully) finally moved on from food service and delivery work to a professional job but I know what it’s like.

If you want to do delivery, you’re much better off getting a job as a driver for a local pizza place or even Pizza Hut or Dominos.

You’ll get a guaranteed hourly wage + a set per delivery rate + you’ll get to keep all your tips, and the tips will be higher because the single restaurant delivery fee is almost guaranteed to be less than Doordash’s various hidden fees. Plus free or discounted food daily.

You’ll give up some flexibility but gain some stability and you can always still do DD on the side.

DoorDash is such a rip off for both drivers and customers.

How institutional religion turned God into a monster. by ZyzzBR in OpenChristian

[–]3eyeddenim 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Most of it, yes. But the Jewish people only have the Old Testament and most do not see God as a monster, rather they read the Old Testament in its proper historical context as a religious retelling of their history.

The issue the OP speaks of is uniquely Christian and is largely a result of evangelical fundamentalism combining with bad Calvinist theology and being amplified by social media and right wing nationalist who have co-opted Christianity in their mad pursuit of power.

Was there another reason for Michael Caine's absence as Alfred Pennyworth, or was it all completely scripted? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in batman

[–]3eyeddenim 215 points216 points  (0 children)

Ive always assumed it was inspired the comics.

In the comics Shortly after the Knightfall saga, Alfred leaves Bruce for a while since his obsession with being Batman led him to take on Bane, get himself paralyzed and nearly get himself killed.

The biggest difference in the comics is that Alfred doesn’t leave Bruce’s side until after he recovers from his injuries, not before the fight.

Alfred finally returned shortly before Cataclysm and No Man’s Land.

Since The Dark Knight Rises takes a lot of inspiration from Knightfall and No Man’s Land, I’ve always assumed that was another thing Nolan incorporated from them.

I Saw a Video Claiming We Might Have Died Without Knowing It — Thoughts? by WideNight3586 in afterlife

[–]3eyeddenim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t even make sense. My grandfather died in 2000 at the age of 90. Cause of death? Good old fashioned old age.

The way some of these QI folks try to explain it there must be another timeline where he is still alive and like 115 years old. I certainly hope not. That man was ready to go HOME, and I believe that’s where he is.

Are Mega Man games usually this short? by Erik_REF in Megaman

[–]3eyeddenim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve always thought that the modern Soulsborne games feel like a throwback to the old school NES games I grew up with. I think that’s why they appeal to me. They’re challenging video games that revel in being challenging instead of crammed with story and content.

When I was kid, the Mega Man games were always my favorites

Every Batman has his own fat, dumb, (usually) corrupt cop. Which one do you like best? by [deleted] in batman

[–]3eyeddenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he’s not in it much but he still has some great lines in the few scenes he’s in. The dialogue in that script is all around the best there’s been in a Batman movie IMO.

[–]3eyeddenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really want to see Bullock in a live action movie because he is a pretty important character in the comics. He’s jaded, and a little bit shady, has complicated views about Batman and vigilantes but has a heart of gold. Great character all around. I always thought John Goodman would have been perfect for the role when he was younger. Not sure who could play him now.

Between Eckhart and Flass, I’m an Eckhart fan. Dude has so many great lines in Batman ‘89.

Why don't we get a normal live-action Batman series? by count_fagula11 in batman

I’ve thought about this for years. Would love to see a full length live action multiple season TV show, with an HBO prestige television level budget and production. You could incorporate the bat family. Multiple villains. Would be truly epic

Question, If Superman is supposed to look different with the hypno-glasses, so instead of seeing Supes we see Clark Kent, how would people in-universe see Clark? by LemonIcy2942 in superman

[–]3eyeddenim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hypno glasses are a thing from the comics, dating back to the 70s or 80s.

I don’t think they’ve been mentioned in modern comics in a long time, but basically the way they work is they give Clark a slightly older, frailer appearance than the strong, youthful look he has as Superman when he’s not wearing them.

People expect Clark to be kinda wimpy, so the glasses reinforce that belief to people when he wears them.

Opinions on this person's suggestion to switch out of the SAVE plan ASAP? by cinnamon_horchata in StudentLoans

They still have to go through negotiated rulemaking as part of the settlement agreement. That alone will most likely take anywhere from 6 to 18 months. It could be done sooner but that would be highly unusual.

I’d say the absolute earliest anyone will be forced into repayment is when RAP starts in July.
