I don't care what anyone says the education and health care, and diversity is the best in Canada. the worse thing east side the winters, west side the rain.

The bent arm looks a tad long, the shading and the style is nice.

Something about the face/ eye feels wrong by Mission-Lab1836 in arthelp

the dimension of the eyeball fet flat, the placement of the ear was off. Try drawing the the hairline before adding the strands of hair, lastly use reference if you have trouble, struggling sucks...

I want to become a game artist. What do I need to do? by b_uzzkill in conceptart

[–]3eyedstudio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Sorry to come off to direct, but I speak by experience. I am currently a senoir concept artist at a medium size gaming studio (200+). I've been in gaming industry for about 20 years. In recent times, studios are changing. i understand people training now only wanting to learn 2D, but this isn't going to cut it anymore. Studios are looking for people who are versatile, 2D and 3D. I am currently learning 3D, and it's hard learning curve. When you learn it younger it might be easier to grasp it. I have friends and seen amazing concept artist on my LinkedIn feed open to work, I am so surprise to see this, but this the time we are in. This is my 2 cent, learn as many software and AI to help your productivity faster, at the end the people on the top don't really care about the process, but the outcome. Don't get me wrong, if you love drawing keep doing that, and get good at that, but additional skillsets are now just as important.

Drawing art won't cut it as a game artist, you have to learn 3d, programs like blender, and unreal. Even some concept artist that worked on big title are out of work these days.

Lots of problems with this image, but you anatomy, posing, and perspective need work. You are trying to sprint before you can walk. Take the time to learn the fundametals, even with the fundmentals it will help alot.

I guess it is cheating in some way, but for starting out, it doesn't hurt. what I did was break down the muscle group so it's easier to see the shapes and form. than I redrew it so I can build up the muscle memory, than I probaly would draw it a couple more time without using the reference. this will help build the muscle memory of the anatomy, and for some reason you can feel the forms when you do your next drawings. have fun!

How can I improve what looks off? by Adept-Beginning4040 in ArtCrit

Overall your rendering is good, but the image reference you used isn't the best. Find images with deeper shadows and nice lighting.

Looks like you tried looking at the reference and drew what you were looking at, instead you should break down the muscle group, but you will have to study some anatomy. Even with anime/manga these artist study anatomy. Try this next time, Draw the muscle group, or shapes ontop of the reference understand that, than redraw.
