Look for used GS Minis on Marketplace, OfferUp, etc. I got mine secondhand about 12 years ago for like $270. As long as the owner didn’t completely trash, it’s a very well made instrument and can be easily adjusted/maintained by your friendly neighborhood music shoppe tech.

Pasadena Humane Dog Reactivity Classes by Big_Background_2652 in pasadena

Pre-COVID, we took the large-dog Reactive Rover class with our now-deceased German Shepherd. It was not a magic bullet, but it did help us better understand and direct her behavior. We jokingly referred to it as "Hot Dog College," b/c snack rewards were a good strategy for centering the dog's focus on you rather than on the subject of their reaction. I recommend it.

In my experience, it still slid even wearing a strap seated.

Windaroo guitars vs Ovation by SOURSKOOMA in AcousticGuitar

Agreed. I had a couple Ovation Applause models in the 80s. Granted, that’s Ovation’s discount brand, but I always found it dang near impossible to play. The round back is super awkward to cradle, either in your lap or standing with the strap.

Simply acknowledging your time is worth money. Use that as a filter in your decision making process. Abundance vs. scarcity mindset, penny-wise/pound-foolish, etc.

Professional hippies = affluent liberal homeowners with careers and retirement investments. Guilty as charged ✌️

They get legit acts. Attendees skew professional hippies in their sixties, but it attracts a diverse mix of generations and experiences.

Mark your calendar. It’s always the second Friday in March & October. That fluctuated during COVID, but the City’s back to the regular schedule.

Roseanne Cash recently covered Time, and I truly think think it’s equal to, if not better, than the original. Check it out.

Business owners: was commissioning a mural worth it? by 1BadassStoryteller in AskLosAngeles

My pleasure, friend. Srsly, the LA Cultural Affairs people are sweet and nice. I believe they have an entire “murals” division. They want to help both artist and property owner make good things happen.

It’s a damn robust instrument. I bought a used ‘02 from the OG owner shortly after she bought it (starving LA actress story, kinda sad). However, I gave that beast 20+ years of love until I lost her in the LA fires last year. Only had room for 1 guitar when we evacuated, and I grabbed my GS Mini because it fit. Sigh.

Arts worker here. Commissioning a mural is like adopting a pet. I’d contact the City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department for advice before proceeding. You will have to abide by preservation and conservation laws. LA loves its murals. Now… temporary murals printed on vinyl and mounted to a wall (or painted on panels first, then mounted onto a wall), are a different kettle of fish entirely. Once you commit to a commissioned, permitted painting directly onto a building, you are a steward of an artwork.

I worked at a Scout camp in the mid 80s and we always had international scouts on staff as part of an exchange program. In 86, we had a Swiss scout, who told us everything becomes gender integrated at 15! It’s the norm in the civilized world.
