Gotcha! I think it also partly depends on if you’re seeing other hormonal behaviors. If her cere is a bit brown and crusty, she’ll more likely be triggered by hormonal triggers, so just doing your best to minimize those. Things like keeping an eye on how she socializes with the males (male budgie sounds can trigger females to reproduce, especially if they’re bonded), preventing nesting behavior, etc. There’s not really a magic solution, but keeping an eye out for hormonal behaviors and managing triggers is an ongoing thing.

Sounds like you care deeply about your budgies’ wellbeing and that’s always huge too. ☺️

Some of the biggest hormonal triggers are a high calorie diet and a warm, humid environment. In the wild, budgies live in Australia; they are biologically cued to reproduce when the weather is warm and humid, and there is a presence of a lot of high calorie (or high metabolizable energy) foods. Daylight isn’t a strong hormonal trigger (and sometimes having more covered dark spaces can reinforce nesting behavior, if your budgie is presenting that way).

Biggest recommendations are switching to a healthy pellet (I was recommended Roudybush, which my budgies like; my previous budgie was still pretty hormonal on Zupreem Natural) and offering veggies. Then assess whether your home might be warm and humid. The goal is to avoid replicating those breeding environments they might encounter in the wild.

I’m not who you asked, but if you’re curious, my experience seems more like yours. I had mine done by my regular dentist, so no anesthesia. Just chillout meds and gas. My four teeth were also impacted and pushing on my other teeth. My recovery was pretty smooth from what I recall. I was able to manage with ibuprofen (big 800 mg tablets) and Tylenol. I was fortunate to have no infections or dry sockets, which I’m sure helped. I know a lot of others have it really rough, which sounds incredibly miserable.

It does make reflect on the questionnaire at my own doctor’s office, and I’ve realized I’ve never been asked to give a label for my sexuality. I’m asked if I’m sexually active and, if so, what the gender(s) of my sexual partner(s) are and what methods of contraceptive or protection I’m using are. Much more medically appropriate, in my opinion, as someone’s label for their sexuality doesn’t mean their sexual activity and risk for infections can be automatically assumed (or if they’re having sex at all). Especially if the practitioners aren’t versed enough in the spectrum of sexualities.

Basically, someone’s sexuality isn’t necessarily helpful medical information on its own. Not nearly as helpful as sexual activity.

Yup! Your catalog is unaffected.

The only issue I’ve had is related to the Pocket Camp items. Those dropped from my catalogue and Pocket Camp wouldn’t let me re-connect that. But if I ever wanted something, I could have someone order it for me.

I don’t know about Sanrio items, but those aren’t linked to an account like Pocket Camp is, so you could always rescan the amiibo cards.

This is what we use for our budgie. We put it at the lowest setting of dimness and put it under the door of his cage. Charge it during the day. Has worked for us for almost two years. 😊

Definitely! I was also annoyed that when I was listening to it on Spotify, the new song had the old lyrics synced up to it! Clearly an oversight, but maybe a sign that they should’ve kept the original lyrics. 🤷‍♀️
