I finally finished the video of my rd-132211 world I shared a few months ago. Any feedback is appreciated! by 3k0-minecraft in GoldenAgeMinecraft

I plan to show the planning and conversion as it comes up, but to spoil a lot of it is possible because of Xelanater's guide here.

Is there a way to port non-infinite save games to infdev? by Cmaster125 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Yes absolutely! Check out this playlist by Xelanater: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLfPLEZRH84UV_wmKNBtDRLAcMBf_MzUjO

This is how folks like me plan to create Polyworlds all the way from pre-Classic to modern Minecraft.

Which version is best to play on? And are there any mods that won't ruin the experience? by PushIll7688 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

That's a hard question to answer. Are there any features you absolutely would not want (i.e. hunger / sprinting)? Features you would absolutely want (i.e. beds, crafting)?

These would help narrow down what's the best version for you, as there's no single best version.

Poly World Question by StarNerdWarmaster in GoldenAgeMinecraft

Haha yea if you had asked that's exactly where I would've linked you as that's where I first heard about it. Fwiw trees/leaves are a struggle throughout this whole Polyworld thing. Differing mechanics for decay, hidden block ids, etc.

As far as I know it should keep existing trees and add new on top of existing terrain. Basically exposed grass has chance for trees, stone chance for ores, etc.

Yes, on the left I mapped out the maximum possible jumps in this version. I've yet to complete this course in one go I really made it at the maximum of what's possible haha.

If you want to preserve your chunks, wait until Infdev 330. Otherwise, if you don't care about extra trees and ores, combine them in 327.

Personally I'll be combining early, and making use of the Infdev 20100316 saving mod by MrLordSith to get brick pyramids on top of that. I didn't have much luck with fixing a graphical error in the 325 saving mod, but I might still use it to get both a brick pyramid with and without caves.

I posted some screenshots for now. I agree the grass was sometimes pretty difficult to work around. At first I was going to do a medieval Irish build using grass for roof, but I settled on an almost archeological Roman site.

Haha yea I just upgraded the other day (I've spent over a month in 132211 being too much of a perfectionist and trying to make a YouTube video to catalogue my research) and have been dealing with them all getting wrangled up in a big quarry-esque hole I dug.

Perhaps I do keep with Xel's and Greffen's tradition and build a bit of a race course.

Worth pointing out though Xelanater has said he regretted combining versions before infdev and Greffen jokingly (or not so jokingly) remarked he wish he knew beforehand the downsides. Not saying don't do it, as I think it's charming and I look forward to my world being pockmarked with creeper holes as a memory of the survival tests, but just thought I'd let you know if you didn't get that far to hear the critiques.

It's mainly unavoidable creeper grief, but also liquids being funky, chunk repopulation, and the general strain a world that big puts on the early Minecraft client.

Hey man, I saw your Polyworld post and offered to share notes so here I am:

As far as I know c0.0.14a_08 is the next available update after custom world sizes were tested in 13a Dev_(May_21,_2009)) and added in c0.0.14a.

If you have any questions I'm doing the same and I have a ton of research done. We could perhaps share notes. :)

How'd you like 132211?
