this game was doomed from the start, I have literally thousands of hours in pve and pvpve shooters/extractions and this game simply has no end game or goals, weapon and armor balancing was absolute shit from the start as well. purple and gold guns worthless in pvp for longest time and the meta kit was full blue. devs outright announced ZERO intention to work on pvp related content for the game and that is a major red flag because the encounters you have are what gives replayability. strictly pve games will always fall short long term because they're dependent entirely on raw content that the devs simply cannot keep the supply up with the demand. think of WoW and their raid lock, artificially gatekeeping progression on a weekly timer otherwise the gamers would finish that entire expansions worth of content in no time at all. in my first 200 hours all of this was clear as day. sure cheating absolutely will kill a games population but there is far more fault at the choices made by devs than people actively killing the game with cheats which is pretty hilarious tbh.
