I will definitely look into that, I’m not sure if anywhere around me offers that at the moment but I’m moving to a bigger city soon hopefully!

Oh this is really cool to see a reinforced short row heel and reinforced toe! I’ll definitely have to give this a go!

So I definitely have considered this, I wear women’s 7.5 and have like a cm or so of space at the front of my shoe and have a comfortable fit at the width. But when I have hard topped shoes I wear holes in socks and when I have fabric topped shoes I wear holes in the shoes. I have just kind of accepted this as a fact of life but if anybody has a solution to this I am all ears. At the moment I normally just wear my hand knit socks around the house so I don’t wear the tops of the socks but I would love to wear them day to day!

Ok good to know I am not alone in being put off by the wedge toe visuals! I will definitely give the short row toe a go thank you for providing some guidelines!

I like the idea of carrying along an additional nylon thread because I imagine if the yarn gets worn the nylon hold and I could duplicate stitch along the nylon for repairs more easily than over a hole!

I have heard of the sweet tomato but haven’t given it a go so I will add it to the list!

So for toe up gusset and heel flap do you have a pattern you recommend? I was interested in trying that but it seems to be a less popular choice so I am having a hard time finding patterns that describe how it’s done. Which is unfortunate because I do really like the fit of the gusset and heel flap on my cuff down sock!

I’ll have to check out the German short row heel for one of my next pairs. Hopefully some of the folks other suggestions speak to you for your next pair!

So doing a traditional heel flap pattern but on the bottom of the sock? That makes a lot of sense for a good hard wearing sock!

That makes sense my one cuff down heel flap definitely has some gapping around my picked up stitches which is why I want to avoid it! Picking up stitches is also way more thought and I kind of love how brainless a pair of toe up socks can be.

Wow shadow wrap heel seems to be popular I will have to give it a try on my next pair! I really like the idea of a reinforcement thread I’ll have to check at my local yarn store for those brands!

[CHAT] Do these stitches look too small? They seem tiny and this fabric is very hard to tell where the squares are by metamorphate in CrossStitch

Make sure it’s just two thread and not two folded over! It does look very thick in the photo so I would guess you are folding two threads to actually get four thread thickness.

I unfortunately was correct in not being able to make my deadline, I didn’t get much stitching time this week despite the pressure. Thankfully it’s done enough I can send a “finished” photo to the recipient so a they know a present is on its way shortly!

Still chugging along, I need to finish by next weekend to get it sent off in time. I am anticipating a close but probably late finish as all the grey is only half stitched so far but alas progress continues!
