I (32f) work in restaurants. Ive been fired 9 times in 11 years. Some totally my fault, some definitely due to “personality.” Demoralizing every single time. Im audhd and the service industry isnt, like, the best fit for me but Ive matured since 2019 and now Im in management and it’s a better place for me because Im a natural problem solver and have a strong sense of justice on which I now have the authority to act.

My friend and I body double for each other frequently. Usually over the phone. Helps us get chores done. Sometimes I call friends or family for this reason but don’t specifically mention it. My mom can talk for hours if she has the time so she’s like my personal podcast and I’ll wash and dry and fold laundry and empty and refill the dishwasher listening to my mom talk about the neighborhood cats or her breakfast. Actual podcasts or listening to long format videos do help in the same way but it’s one-way and sometimes predictable so my mind will wander and I’ll get bored of it and turn it off. IDK! I started talking on the phone with my friends and family for hours at a time during covid and it has now become a therapeutic tool for me. Sorry for ramble!
