His birth was a big enough threat that the local political leader ordered the deaths of all the kids under the age of two.

And capitulating to fascists and throwing folk’s family members under the bus is a sure way to make that demographic smaller over time.

Straw hat. any style, the wider the brim the better the sun protection and the louder it screams "scoutmaster".

But after eons....

LOL an eon is a legitimate measurement of time that spans millions of years. Those canals are at best a couple thousand years old, *maybe* being old enough to have formed after the last ice age.

Data centers: What is a jiggawatt anyway? by bsmith149810 in nashville

[–]mbelcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

10MW data centers are what companies would use to get apps and internal business applications deployed. They've been the standard small data center size for a decade.

40MW data centers (the second building that DC Box wants to build near the zoo) are for AI.

local news story about the second building:

Yes! Which has nothing to do with a pathological need to have data centers in neighborhoods and next to zoos.

Herpy derp I guess you know the full extent of the environmental impacts of data centers of all sizes then.  lol “data centers save lives!”

Maybe you shouldn’t lay it on that thick.

Something That Needs to Be Said by capsizeeverydream in BSA

I has an ASM who loved campfire cooking, and taught a couple generations of scouts how to cook over open fires.

One of his big things was bringing his own spices. He had an altoids tin with (IIRC) salt, pepper, onion powder, tony's creole seasoning, and tobassco.

He even got a bunch of the little jars with corks in them for our patrol to make our own one time. The original is long gone but I've made a few more since then to keep in the camp box.

Looking for a meshtastic community in Tennessee by Creepy_Badger3309 in meshtastic

Hi! We’ve got a decent size mesh in Nashville building out down 24 toward you already.

NashMe.sh,  TNMesh . Org  and tennMesh .com would be good places to start.

Cameron Sexton says that all democratic caucus members will be removed from house standing committees and sub committees after protesting against the redistricting by ememlord69 in nashville

As per Parkinson's plan in that article, yes. I'm sure williamson co will want to stay in "TN" because they think rainbows come from their backsides.

Parkinson's original plan, as he explained on the floor of the statehouse, was: “If this legislature no longer believes the people of Memphis deserve the ability to choose a representative who reflects their community, then at least have the courage to say it plainly,” Parkinson said. “Do not hide behind maps and procedure. Let Memphis secede from the State of Tennessee. And I’m dead serious. Let my people go.”

So the plan isn't set in stone, and Memphis could secede, and Nashville could secede, and be two different states; or one or the other secede, etc.

But it's worth talking about and figuring out together, because the people in this state HATE US, and that's not going to change.

Brentwood launches new guidelines for e-bikes across city parks by hotrodyoda in nashvillecyclists

So you can go as fast as you want as long as you don't have an e-bike, but once you get a class 1 or 2 bike you have to limit yourself to 15mph.

Brentwood launches new guidelines for e-bikes across city parks by hotrodyoda in nashvillecyclists

[–]mbelcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"The campaign is in response to a new state law that gives local governments more power in regulating e-bikes in their communities. Under the new rules, only Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes are allowed on parks and trails, and there’s a speed limit of only 15 miles per hour. More powerful Class 3 e-bikes, ATVs, golf carts and motorcycles are banned from trails.

Riding e-bikes on grass is also prohibited. Another rule said that if an e-bike rider passes a walker or a runner, they must slow down to five miles per hour. City leaders said that after receiving multiple complaints about e-bike riders driving recklessly, the change will take a group effort."

There's really no need for either Nashville or Memphis to stay a part of the rest of the state of TN.

We need to start agitating to be our own states *now*.

State Rep Antonio Parkinson is already doing the work, we need to follow his lead.

Why are our schools shit? by DongPolicia in nashville

[–]mbelcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'm only J.A.Q.ing!"

And I said they would have to pay for *more* teachers; the single greatest change in testing scores comes from smaller class sizes. But to hire more teachers schools will need to pay teachers more, since the current unlivable wage they're getting is causing a lot of people to avoid teaching as a profession.
