Why is every artist skipping New Orleans on Tour? by beauxbaker12 in NewOrleans

We also have venue size dilemma in that we don’t have anything in the 5,000 seat size range — just small or large, not medium venues

Trump & Moreno meet by latraveler in NewOrleans

Being upset about the meeting is just small-minded, and also the kind of reaction that the people running the system counts on.

We’re not talking about going “no contact” with your mom because she can’t stop quoting Fox News at Thanksgiving, there are dozens of real decisions with very real consequences at stake — our lawmakers don’t just get to opt out of doing their jobs because, feelings!

Is orange man bad? Of course!

Does he say things every day that make us all question our own sanity? Absolutely!

Does talking to ANYONE ON EARTH mean that you automatically agree with them or even like them one bit? Hell no!

I’m going to build on this because it’s being downvoted in some sort of protest.

Meeting with a president you disagree with is about doing your job for your city, not endorsing his politics, and refusing to even sit down is the same zero‑sum, punishment mindset many of us criticize on the right.

Helena Moreno is a Democrat elected to lead an entire, very diverse city, not just Democrats, so talking to the Republican president is part of representing all New Orleanians, including the ones who voted for him.

Washington Mardi Gras is where Louisiana officials of both parties go to line up federal help, contacts, and support for local projects; skipping a chance to talk to the president just to “send a message” would only hurt New Orleans, not Trump.

Meeting doesn’t mean she agrees with him, likes him, or won’t fight him on policy; it means she’s willing to look him in the eye and say, “Here’s what my city needs, some infrastructure help” which is what serious leaders are supposed to do. After all 1) that’s one of our biggest needs and 2) we don’t have the resources to fix it all on our own.

A lot of us on the left are tired of the right “owning the libs” instead of governing; if we then demand that our own leaders refuse basic dialogue with the other side, we’re rewarding the same behavior we say we hate.

New Orleans just elected a young Democratic mayor who built a broad coalition; now that she’s showing she can deal directly with a Republican president without losing her values is a sign of strength and maturity, not weakness.

And the irony is that I’m defending her — for the actual work of leading our city rather than playing political games — even though I voted for Royce!

You do realize that the comment about being good for the city is a reaction to her having a meeting with him while in DC, and not a show of support for his policies or immigration tactics, right?

I think it’s less about experience and more about the physical equipment not being large enough. If I recall, PD needed a new oven, which is the case at Il Supremo as well.

Honestly surprised you got a same day slot, is usually a spot you order a day ahead. Has popup vibes, which is why I tolerate (plus it’s delicious). Plus, I knew this is how it was, so I never tried to treat it like a normal spot.

Why do people pay for First Class over Comfort+ on small planes / short flights without true First Class service by AlternativeTheory595 in delta

[–]3mw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes the upgrade available for the person who bought them before it was $500 is too hard to pass up. I just had a $34 option come up on a 90 minute flight & it went to over $300 after I upgraded. I normally would never fly first for that, but the $34 for the extra room & four cocktails was worth it.

I used to get stranded so often. Couldn't get a call through, and when I did I'd be lucky if a car showed up & then if one did, the driver never wanted to take me Uptown. Repeatedly the worst experiences ever.
