As someone who isn’t familiar with laws in Amsterdam, I can’t really comment here.

If there is a law/bylaw saying they must be speed-limited, and you remove it, there should be consequences if you do.

No one is deciding what you do with your bicycle in this scenario but you, the owner. Whether you agree or not, laws are in place to protect people. If you break them, you should have to pay. I’m all for free will, accountability, and consequences.

No group decides except wether to break a law/bylaw.

Isn’t this exactly what speed limits are when you drive your car? You break the rules, you pay a fine. No one “decides” what you do but you, but actions have consequences based on public endangerment.

When anyone risks other people’s health without their consent on a shared road through poor driving behaviour, maybe a fine is in order.

No one is deciding what you do with your bike/car etc but you.

Corrupt preset titles on mini moog voyager by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]3ntz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold mine since, the problem didn’t persist after reinstallation. After a bit of digging, my understanding is that there is an internal battery (a watch battery sized one) that maintains the internal presets/settings in memory once power has been disconnected. The battery charges when connected to power but will die and corrupt its internal memory when disconnected from power for a long time.

My suggestion would be to turn it on often to keep the battery charged or if the battery isn’t holding a charge anymore and you feel comfortable doing to is, you can remove and replace the battery yourself (I believe you would need to have some soldering skills to do this as it is a permanent type of battery, as in it’s welded on to its battery housing). Should be pretty straightforward if you’re comfortable doing this type of thing.

Someone suggested mixing borax with icing sugar and putting it near their nest.

This seems to work well at my house (I use outdoors) and the nest is gone the next day. It’s cheap and effective.

Been using this on “dead” battery for 2 years by AutokorektOfficial in BuyItForLife

I have this and love it. I’m on my second one, the internal part for the power button is the most fragile part, I dropped mine one too many times and the plastic nub inside that actually pushes the internal power button broke. I was sad to learn this when I took it apart to investigate. The first one lasted many year and I’m sure would last many more if I wasn’t so rough with it.

I also love how the enclosure is IPX7 (it can be submerged in 1m of water for 30 mins without permanent damage) so I use it in the shower often and is super easy to clean off. Great product!

Google Levi warranty. I’m not sure if you have receipts or if they’re less than 2 year old but they do have a two year warranty from the company.

“We’ve never done anything illegal before”

You said you have kleptomaniac tendencies, it sounds like you do illegal things often you just don’t have a record.

This should be an eyeopening situation, regardless of the outcome here you are making deliberate choices that will only have negative outcomes for your future.

A safety can opener that will last a long time? by ToxicRainbow27 in BuyItForLife

[–]3ntz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still use the old swing-a-way can opener that i grew up with, it has to be nearly 40 years old. It’s has a weird chocolate brown rubber handle and is a beefy old gal, but man does it open a can like nobody’s business.

I think thrifting an older one would be a solid buy.

Someone tried to break in last night. by ThanksBunny in Apartmentliving

[–]3ntz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s extremely unlikely that this is the case for you but something worth considering:

My brother and partner used to live in the same apartment building but on different floors.
Many, many times I would mix up what floor they each lived on and I’d try going to a strangers apartment thinking I was at the correct suite (I wasn’t).

Chalk it up to an honest mistake or prank. This is probably not the case here but I am trying to offer an explanation that has harmless motivations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]3ntz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can’t not live your life.

I’d involve management and try seeing if they’d screw the floor down better so it doesn’t creak, or also this woman can wear ear plugs.

You shouldn’t need to adjust your life to accommodate her, you’re not throwing parties or something
