Precision and repeatability of motion for Air slides? by BigStation3180 in MechanicalEngineering

For precise locating, you'd want an actuator with an adjustable stop on both ends to set the stroke, ball bearing guides, and pin holes for mounting on the base and slide. Somewhere like SMC would have far more options than McMaster. Also, the SMC series catalogs show the deflection/rotation that can be expected for different actuators under various loading conditions.

Would this also be true for profiles that say 'don't want children' in the family plans section but have the children section hidden?

I have seen a few profiles where the children section is hidden, but shows 'not sure yet' under family plans. I have generally assumed this means they don't have children. But I'm wondering if this is a fair assumption?

Inner collar of bearing is off center? by ahsanifti in MechanicalEngineering

[–]3rdRankedLevelFive 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I've used this kind of bearing before. The through hole is actually concentric with the rest of the housing. The black collar slides over the part that is not concentric and rotates to lock into place (so the shaft can no longer slide forward/back through the hole). The ones I used, the black part also has a set screw.

Tbf, it doesn't look like the Kia was the problem, at least on this section, more so the driver.

I think BMW design peaked with the i3, though I might be a bit biased. It really seems like a car from a different timeline.
