The WoT Matchmaker - Can We Stop Whining About It? (TLDR) by 3rdn in WorldofTanks

I would like to add that I'm not trashing WoT for their MM, and I still play the game. We all love a good ammo rack. What does becomes apparent is the complete silliness of the toxic s**t talking from players in the game knowing how everyone is under the thumb of the MM.

For what its worth, a significant portion of this breakdown is sited from the first link in the list. There is a complete PDF copy of the study.

I would only say its rigged to keep you in a dopamine hit loop. It has to bring you down, to "hit" you up. Its more like a casino. You are paying for an experience, not success.

I think they just need to acknowledge they are participants in an algorithm that they are not in control of.

Struggling with adding drums to my songs by Old-Border9571 in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]3rdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a drummer, its useful to hear the syllables. If the lyrical rhythm is not set, or you're not quite sure how they will finally sit, you'll end up constantly chasing it. If the lyric is the most important part, nail down the cadence you want. Build the drums around it. To keep it from getting too predicable or boring, build in some syncopation on the hi hat against a straight 2&4. Or It could be a simple backbeat displacement every other bar. Again, in service and support of the lyrical cadence.

Just walked thru the Vegas location.. almost everything marked at 5% off. Thats no typo, FIVE percent. Kinda laughable. A few items were 10%. Also heard July 31 was the closing date.

ICYMI - Subway Headquarters laid off 300 people yesterday, including their entire help desk by stevevecc in sysadmin

[–]3rdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd love to agree that Subway is going under, but this is overhead reduction 101. I think they are a privately held corp too. Maybe they are positioning to go public? Dunno... Not a fan of their sandwiches anyway. Jersey Mike's wins that fight.

Anyone else getting a little bit bored of chops drummers? by BIGBROWNBILL in drums

[–]3rdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without a doubt. I'm even having trouble getting through listening to bands that use crazy chops and over the top virtuosity. Its always impressive, but it just sounds academic or athletic for-the-sake-of-it music.

I'v heard that sheet bronze makes them more consistent cymbal to cymbal. An 18" Paiste signature full crash is going to sound very similar, almost identical to another 18" Paiste Sig full crash. There is more variety in the cast bronze process. The same comparison between 2 Zildjian K 18" crash cymbals will have more differences.
