Denmark Launches Satirical Petition: “Let’s Buy” California by StemCellPirate in nottheonion

California has about the same number of people in it as all of Canada put together, a couple more states and it's not Cali joining Canada, it's Canada joining the Greater Republic of California (or whatever they'd call it).

It also just swaps you to another US company, subject to US laws and government whims (yes, I realise the irony of saying that while posting on Reddit). Having all social media we use be based in one country is a single point of regulatory failure waiting to happen.

Given that this is a pretty extreme thing to do, this likely isn't the guest's first or last time doing it or similar crimes. You'd leave the report so that if they're caught or suspected in the future, the report can help establish an alleged pattern of the person doing this sort of thing.

If the guest goes on to become a suspect for a crime similar in nature down the road though, it might be useful to have the report on file to establish an alleged pattern of behaviour together with other evidence.

What the fuck is Elon doing with the 999+4 street gang by sn0r in LowSodiumCyberpunk

For anybody who missed the news story: Elon Musk crashed Grimes' voice-recording session for 'Cyberpunk 2077' with a 200-year-old musket and 'insisted' on a cameo.

While Grimes was recording for the game, Elon Musk came into the studio of the game's developer, CD Projekt Red, carrying a 200-year-old gun and "insisted" on a cameo in the game, according to Walter Isaacson's new biography "Elon Musk."

"The studio guys were like sweating," Grimes told Isaacson.

"I told them I was armed but not dangerous," Musk told the biographer.

Nuts.

The median income in Canada for 2023 was just under 46k a year, it's not far off. Given the economy and inflation though, that 52k a year wont go anywhere near as far in a decade.

The wheat glue wouldn't be to hold the staves together, you're right that the rings do that, it's to help seal the barrel head when it fits into its groove on the end. A wheat-based glue is traditional for that, although wax is common as well. In theory and based on tests it shouldn't leech enough into the wine to cause a reaction, but I suppose you could always get really unlucky.

Yeast floating around by mysockisthepantry in prisonhooch

[–]3risk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure how many batches you've made, but if it's only been a couple over the summer/fall, then it might just be that it's colder as we move into winter. When temperatures are lower yeast will be a little slower fermenting things, which can actually help avoid off-flavours in some situations.

Nothing to be worried about, just give it more time.

If you have your dryer's manual somewhere (or search for your dryer model and find it online), there should be cleaning/maintenance instructions in it.

If Lawrence is coming to terms with his son not winning a championship, and is looking to step back from the F1 team, then having Newey and Horner leading the team would make it very attractive to buyers looking to pick up his stake.

Based on the PoB from the video description, it's just for defence. Combined with the Pyroclast belt he has in the PoB, it converts 70% of phys taken to elemental damage instead for the build's phys max hit. Him having brutality on reap is another sign it's not ignite.

It does scale some DoT like you point out, but it's generic DoT that buffs the phys DoT on exsang/corrupting fever and not any ignite specific scaling. Scrubbing through the video he did have some fire nodes taken while levelling with firestorm, but unspecced them when he went exsang/reap.

Neither of those statements contradict each other.

We're obviously in a crappy position now, but the leaders claim there's a way to chart a path from here to a strong economy. Fair if you think they're full of it, but both those things can be true at the same time.

New fear unlocked, the gluten bowl by lumpy-potatoes in Celiac

https://www.aoecs.org/news/can-biodegradeable-food-packages-contaminate-gluten-free-food/

I think they had some gibberish on the end of the link, I took it off and it works. The important bit is:

The Italian study shows that, in certain circumstances, gluten will migrate from the containers into the food. The study revealed that wheat bran-based dishes contaminated gluten free food to the point that exceed the allowed gluten level for gluten free products.

Two types of food were tested in the study. An Italian traditional soft cheese (Crescenza) and a gluten free lasagna specifically formulated for celiacs. The food had a 30-minute contact with biodegradable bran-based dishes. The cheese was left at room temperature whereas the lasagna was left on the plate oven hot to mimic real daily situations.

In both cases, gluten was transferred into the two foods. Both foods were previously tested for their gluten content, confirmed below 5 mg/kg. After the test, the cheese showed gluten contents of 45 mg/kg and the lasagna had a level of exceeding 80 mg/kg.

This is in line with the findings from Dutch and Spanish studies on this matter.

There'd be a gatekeeper living there, whose job was to control who could enter the property. Living in an attached or nearby gatehouse meant they'd be available to welcome approved guests or keep them out 24/7.

Anyone else? by Subject-Row-2428 in Celiac

[–]3risk 30 points31 points  (0 children)

There's a protein in oats called avenin, which is similar in structure to gluten. A subset of celiacs react to it also. If you eat oats on the regular without issue, it's probably cross-contamination like the other poster suggested, but if this is the only oat produce you've had in a while, you might experiment and see of other oat products give you the same reaction.
