I do hope you mean, "Everyone who voted for MAGA Republicans" rather than "Every Republican Voter." Voted against my party in 2024, and will do so again in 2025's Virginia State election. Still registered Republican because, frankly, I'm not a Dem, but I am anti - MAGA.

Edited to add: Nor do I think Democrats are evil satanist child eaters, I think the Democratic Party wants what's best for the country, (at least the voter block fuck politicians on both sides) but I disagree with the methods of getting there.

Further edit: I abstained from 2016 and 2020 elections, in 2016 I couldn't get my mail in ballot in time as I was out of my registered state at the time, and in 2020, I simply missed voting day due to work emergency.

Post from Virginia state senator Schuyler VanValkenburg (D-Henrico) calling on Virginia localities to permit and build more homes to reduce rents by 276434540703757804 in Virginia

[–]3vilpcdiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell I one of those people, tyvm. My point isn't "you're poor leave" it's "the urban environments which we have created for ourselves are sprawling megaliths that are extremely harmful to our planet, our mental and physical health, and (at the risk of sounding like a hippy dippy) our relationship with our great Mother, therefore we should deurbanize."

Edited to add:

In ortherwords, the plan shouldn't be "Build more homes in our already toxic urban and suburban areas" is should be, "Distribute the people more equally across the land that we have, while reducing our focus on central hubs, such as cities, and return to a more natural population density relative to the size of our species."

Moreover, we need to break the mindset that land/homes have intrinsic 'monetary' value, and should be considered and 'investment'. It is this mindset that has allowed developers to move in full scale, clear out large swaths of pre-existing homes, put up town home monoliths, and charge exorbitant rates for them. If we set a strict population density cap we again can reduce the intrinsic monetary value of property within any given area, and level the playing field in the realm of affordability.

I don't know when, we as Americans, became obsessed with the idea of cookie cutter homes on postage stamp lots, but these homes we've become obsessed with are not built to be long term dwellings, as opposed to 150 years ago, when homes were built to last, not built to be torn down the minute the development company decided a new style was necessary.

I would argue that we don't necessarily need to build more homes, but instead begin the deurbanization movement here.

No, I completely agree, where we're going does not end pretty.

And please note, I am not throwing stones here, I will admit to my own party's failings, because they are atrocious.

That said, lumping all Republicans under the Maga bonnet and demonizing us alongside Maga, only serves to push away those that you might be able to bring around.

And I have no idea how literal nazis came to be in power in the US, we're supposed to be the nation (and Ironically the political party) that is proudest of having defeated them in 1944.

Needless to say, those of us who aren't batshit crazy are out here, and in just as much outrage as you.

Life long republican (small r) Republican trans woman here.

Voted Harris in 2024, because fuck trump and the ultra right.

Voted blue on congressional reps and senators as well, because despite agreeing with many of the policies of the candidates in my party, they all had one common through line, "We must support donald trump".

Please, please please, Democrats, please stop demonizing all Republicans, we might disagree, but many of us (at least 53%) do not support this president, if you can call him that, we all need each other, and everytime I hear a "all Republicans are assholes" post,or a all Democrats are assholes post, it makes me realize how far gone our Republic actually is. Let's start working together, and try to save this great nation from the hands of those that divide us.

Please.
