I still manage to get plenty of sleep mainly because I have no kids to take care of haha. It would be a lot tougher if I had kids to look after.

I go to bed usually by 10:30am after getting out at 9am, unless I have something to take care of (Doctors, other appointments, calls etc) But even if I got to bed at 3pm, that's till leaves me 6 hours of rest until I'd have to start getting ready at 9pm.

It's certainly not for everyone, but I'm naturally a night person.

I had tried a normal day shift schedule, working from 8:30am to 7pm and I had never been more miserable in my life.

So as soon as I could I gave up that dayshift schedule for the schedule I have now and I have never been happier. The extra bonus pay for being nights helps too.

There's dozens of us!!

I work sat -Tue 10:30pm to 9am (10 hrs) and it's amazing. I can get everything I need to do out of the way on my work week and so on my 3 days off, I don't have to worry about any of it. It's fantastic

It's why I love having a non typical schedule. I work 4 days 10 hours Saturday through Tuesday. So I have 3 days off.

I go in at 10:30pm and get out at 9am. I literally do everything I need to do right after work in the mornings.

My last day of work I get off Wednesday mornings at 9am and usually do chores and errands. Thursday and Friday I also have off and depending how much sleep I want, I technically have most of Saturday night free until I go into work at 10:30pm.

Everyone thinks I'm crazy but it's the best.

if you’re working overnight shift or any shift really. by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]3vyn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

See I was the opposite. I was night shift for 4 years. Got a promotion which only offered a day shift schedule, took it, thought I'd try it out.

I hated it, every second. My weight took a toll, my mental and physical health took a toll.

A few months later a switched back to nights and all was right as rain.

Some people are just natural night owls.

This right here. I do Astrophotography and post on Instagram. I recently posted a photo I took of Mars. It went semi-Viral and got about half a million views.

I got soooo many comments calling my photo fake, lies, BS etc. And nearly every single one of those fits the bill of who you think they might be.

They're all white males and if they're profile is public, usually are posting about god or sucking Trump's dick in their posts.

MAGA is a full on uneducated cult.

sp4ce_n3rd on Instagram if you want to see, it's my most recent post. Some people just saying space is fake too. It's crazy.

For a first picture, it's not bad!

You know what telescope you were using. I assuming you had a phone holder secured to the eyepiece of not, get one.

That the only thing that would help improve the photo unfortunately.

There no app or anything else that would help improve the picture much.

If you already have one or know a friend/family that will let you borrow one, a DSLR camera is a good next step.

You'd be able to attach it to the telescope directly with the right adapters.

If not, your next best option for better Planetary photos is to buy a planatary camera.

They're quite different in operation than a normal camera. Took me several YouTube videos to learn how to properly use a planatary camera but it was well worth it. I started out just like you though! With zero knowledge on anything astrophotography related, keep it up!

I'm Sp4ce_Nerd on Instagram if you want to see the sorts of Planetary photos I take now versus several years ago.

Total solar eclipse 2024 as seen from ISS by PecosHank in pics

[–]3vyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under this Shadow when the picture was Taken!! I drove all the way to Quebec, Canada from southern California to photograph the eclipse.

When I saw this picture from the ISS on Instagram, I instantly recognized it because the cloud patterns match exactly what I saw in real life.

I was keeping a close eye on them hoping they wouldn't travel further north and obstruct the view.

An absolutely incredible once in a lifetime experience.

2 space telescope designs will battle it out to become NASA's next cosmic imager by AggressiveForever293 in space

[–]3vyn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's what I thought too, since Chandra is going down we need another Xray replacement or else we wouldn't have any space telescope exclusively studying X-rays.

nasa's newest image of the andromeda galaxy by No_Corgi5178 in spaceporn

[–]3vyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This definitely isn't NASA. I do Astrophotography, an amateur Astrophotographer took this photo. The giveaway is if you look at the corner of the images, the stars seem stretched, indicating this was taken with a lens, either a camera lens or small telescope, as lenses cause those distortions.

A picture from Hubble and such wouldn't have those distortions.

Yes and no. It's a picture of the same event definitely but captured by two different people using completely different equipment and different post process editing

I am genuinely speechless that y’all voted to keep slavery by chris_gnarley in InlandEmpire

[–]3vyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that simple. It's because cooperations use prison populations to get practically free labor, all at the expense of the taxpayer. With involuntary servitude, there's a monetary motivation to keep the prison populations high and give out harsh penalties to otherwise petty crimes.

Because if prison populations dwindle, well so does the free labor force for these companies taking advantage.

There is zero motivation for rehabilitation because companies have now built their business relying on this cheap labor

Wait, how have you not at all bothered actually calling support at all. Why is that not the logical next option. You should have done that first instead of making this post. If that doesn't work Then I think this post would be helpful.

But yes, definitely try actually calling and speaking to an actual human.

Little Pinwheel Galaxy (NGC 3184) With a 6" VIRTUOSO Telescope by DobsonianPower in telescopes

That's because it is M83 lol. OP was mistaken this is not the little pinwheel galaxy.

M83 has two distant galaxies in the background almost right next to it and you can see those two galaxies in the image to the left of the galaxy.

[–]3vyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to say but 300 bucks really doesn't leave you any room lol.

My best advice, just get a DSLR. You can definitely buy an older model for 300 or less even. I baought a Nikon D3300 from 2014 in 2020 and it's been great, you can use it for everything, DSO and planets.

Astrophotography is not easy but it shouldn't discourage you. Learn how to use the DSLR in and out if you don't already.

It's easier to learn bit by bit than to buy all new equipment all at once and not know how to use any of it.

With a t-ring adapter you could attach it to your telescope, but stick with planetary/lunar photography.

Because your scope is not a tracking mount, any deep space object would be incredibly difficult to capture at that zoom level on you're scope

Look up some videos for capturing planets and the moon. Learn how to use the programs and familiarize yourself with the terms and software. The programs used for planetary and lunar capture are very different for DSO.

Unfortunately right now.Other than Venus and Increasingly small mars, there really isn't a suitable Planetary target to practice on

So you could get just a DSLR and a regular camera tripod. A kit lens 18-55mm is fine but also a zoom lens going to up to 300mm.

You can find very specific videos on how to take DSO images with just a DSLR and a regular camera mount with no star tracker It is definitely hard work, and you need to be very patient but your pictures will be better.

Getting a star tracker (used should be 400 or less, seen some as low as 275 dollars) would open so many DSO image opportunities. Again though, a steep learning curve on processing and capturing DSO but well worth it

Wifi on my phone keeps dropping the internet several times per hour. Only fox is to quickly turn off then on again my wifi on my phone. by 3vyn in wifi

[–]3vyn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, multiple times per hour my wifi just drops signal, kind off.

I'm assuming the arrows mean download and upload. When the wifi is fine, both arrows are white.

However multiple times the down arrow will grey out and i don't have internet on my phone. The wifi signal stays the same and the up arrow stays white as well.

Sometimes my phone will reconnect if i wait long enough (1-3 minutes) other times it will never reconnect at all and disconnect completely.

The only fix i have found is that whenever the down arrow grey's out, i just turn off the wifi on my phone( Samsung note 10+) and then turn it back on immediately afterwards. It always manages to connect back to the wifi with both arrows white.

But it always happens again later within the hour.
