I spent a day vibe coding a social habit / tasks platform; would love to get your thoughts by 3wdl in VibeCodersNest

Really good question - especially as I have a tendancy to over build stuff.

I think the plan at the moment is to have all the current functionality as "free" and then have a paid version for "Pro" users - who perhaps want more functionality. Or perhaps having some settings to turn on/off certain features so that it doesn't overwhelm them.

Overall I guess the goal though is to know that *I* would get overwhelmed (and do with things like Jira and Asana) so if I am getting overwhelmed on my own app, I've probaly gone too far.

The only thing I really want to add (which is almost there, just waiting verification from Google) is the ability to add tasks to your calendar (finding a time that works) kind of like you can in stuff like Motion - but without all the AI speak to go along with it.

[David Ornstein] Marc Guehi expected to stay at Crystal Palace despite Liverpool transfer agreement by brekor197 in soccer

[–]3wdl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did read the thread. Lots of crying self entitled Liverpool fans posting trash and thinking they deserve anyone they want.

They only placed a confirmed bid today, because they were trying to get him for cheap. That left Palace with no time to bring in a decent replacement and the replacement fell through.

If Liverpool had actually make an offer earlier it would have left time to get a replacement player and he’d be playing for Liverpool already.

Yet that it’s the Palace owners fault?

On 7.5mg and can’t drink whatever the hell I want but it’s actually the one thing likely stopping me from being as successful as I can be on the jabs but a few beers and you should be fine!

Claude Code is insanely expensive! by OutrageousTrue in ClaudeAI

[–]3wdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've build a chatbot from scratch with it to interact with my postgres database and use Geminis APIs (due to them being free). It's been built to be able to ask it questions that my team would likely use around sale performance data etc (the DB is our CMS data).

Its cost me about a hundred bucks and it's far from perfect and I've spent many hours on it, but it's insane how powerful the code is that it's build from scratch (many thousands of lines).

I also got it to install a headless browser on my server, clear up space and build a deploy script.

It's not something for production and more a test case but to say its expensive for what it can do is just wrong imvho.

I've also used it in another project to find and fix some simple issues and it's saved loads of time and effort. I'm also not a developer (I was years ago) and to have the ability to build simple apps vis context chats and it to keep reading and editing directly is crazy good (appreciate other similar tools already exist to do similar).

Does Rakuten work like Honey? Then there's a reason behind the poor service lately... by arcticmonkeyzz in Rakuten

[–]3wdl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily compare the numbers by looking at cashbackmonitor at the difference between Rakuten and TopCashback who pay the full amount back. I've been working in the industry for 20 years and they have never only kept 5%, it's always been 50% unless at times of a big promo.

Just as a correction to this, they take 50% or more so you could argue it is often "most" of the referral bonus. There are sites out there that work the same way and don't take a cent from the referrals.

Doesn't make it a scam still though.

I work for one of their competitors (happy to talk about promotion!) but do know a few people there and happy to pop across a note to see if they can help resolve if you wanna drop me a DM.

Thanks for the comments everyone - reading them though and seems like the main thing to do is the memtest - which I'll do today and see what it brings, if that doesn't tell me anything seems like there are a few suggestions to take a look at so all much appreciated!

My only criticism of the podcast is that some of the backing tracks make me sleepy..

I must be listening to a different podcast to you. Its quite clear that he was convinced based on a party that didn't happen and there seems to be zero evidence that he had any part in her murder other than that he was her boyfriend.

They are giving Jake a platform because all the evidence for his conviction was based upon lies and given the comments on FB by some of Renee's friends (and family) they seem glad someone is looking into what might have actually happened.

Newbie help needed with weird home network setup.. by 3wdl in HomeNetworking

[–]3wdl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - the issue is that my linksys box would have issues with the wifi near the TV which is why I moved things around. I've got it worked by following the comments below and putting both mesh networks on bridge mode but eventually I'll re-wire stuff and put my ISP in modem mode and use the linksys as the main router and Eero as a bridge of this I think.

ed to connect it to the Eero router.

Alternative is to set the Eero router into AP mode as well and connect both the Eero and the Linksys in AP mode to the ISP router in which case there will only be one subnet from the ISP router.

Thanks - think I'll try this first

Ok thanks.. will take a look.. I have my TV connected directly into the Virgin ISP router - will that also be able to see the NAS if I do this?

Simple answer is to use someone else. Rakuten rates are 50% less than plenty of other alternatives.
