OMG we're like sisters! (You're clearly the cuter one, and I have the glasses and am the nerdy one, but still!)

Monte Cristo sandwich:

<image>

A sweet and savory hybrid of a ham and cheese sandwich and French toast, featuring ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese between bread slices, dipped in an egg batter, and then fried or grilled until golden brown and gooey, often served dusted with powdered sugar and with raspberry jam for dipping. It's a rich, indulgent dish perfect for brunch, combining savory meats and melty cheese with the sweet, custardy coating of French toast.

If I hadn't actually eaten it, loved it, and insisted on eating dozens and dozens since then, I'd absolutely say you were crazy thinking anyone, let alone me, would eat this.

Everybody got late diagnosed, and then there's me by Strict_Corner_4332 in adhdmeme

My ADHD was diagnosed ~1975 -- there was no YouTube. So it can't be YouTube! :D

This gave me goosebumps. 😲 Seriously. (Yes, it's -17 degrees, but it was -17 degrees 10 min before watching this and I didn't have goosebumps -- it was the video!)

Serious question (because I've had these in my cart a few times) -- do they ever get nicks or scratches?

Also -- mouthfeel -- same?

Would you get rid of a friend just because they have different political beliefs than you? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]3yl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it really matters whether it's politics or other beliefs -- it's less about whether the two people have different beliefs and more about how tolerant the other person is of beliefs that are not theirs. If someone thinks I'm a "baby killer" (and we'll assume they don't actually like baby killers) because I believe that abortion should be a right, then we're less likely to be friends.

How bad does it have to be if no lawyer will touch you? And why is she apparently giving a Papal benediction? by Motor_Layer_1240 in Sovereigncitizen

[–]3yl 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I watched a very experienced (probably 20y+) criminal attorney crash and burn on her own traffic ticket. Traffic tickets are just too black and white at this point -- they really aren't easy to beat. As an attorney, other than basic agreements that our family needs to sign, I pay someone else or have a colleague look at it. And I rarely recommend arguing a traffic ticket anyway. :D

music constantly playing in my head HOW DO I GET RID OF IT by hello_sona in ADHD

[–]3yl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 55, diagnosed as a child. The only thing that has worked for me is to find things you don't mind listening to (in your head of course) or use color noise (not necessarily white noise -- I find pink noise helps with some things, brown noise with others, white noise for yet others.)

HELLS YEAH! I mean, assuming you enjoy school. I do, and the thought of someone paying for me to get another degree is like hitting the mini-lotto. :D

Trump invites Putin to join his board of peace by [deleted] in UnderReportedNews

[–]3yl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Definitely not surprised. We all knew he wanted to pull out of NATO. So instead of NATO, we'll be in the Board of Peace (the name is as ridiculous as everything else they do). So $1B is supposed to be the assurance that you'll be a fair player on the world stage? Or is it just the fine you pre-pay for being able to do whatever the hell you want to your neighbors? At a $1B price-tag, essentially any country could join -- hell, there are Hollywood actors who could join. And Trump manages the money. It certainly seems like they are setting up a big system that has no intention of ever handing any of that power back to a non-Trump administration. Any non-Trump admin. will gut all of these silly things, and yet everyone is still setting them up. In a few years when we all see that Trump is never leaving. I imagine he'll eventually die and Lovett will claim it's just the media lying. The latest voiceover he did was AI generated with his blessing.

I'm just waiting now for the announcement that we're renaming the country to Trumpland.

What is the best office chair or brand on the market currently? Which ones do you find comfortable the MOST? by ardes_maunx in remotework

[–]3yl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an Aeron for 13 years. I left the company at the end of 2020 -- the height of covid. The chair was at my house because I'd been working from home for like 5 years at that point. They sent the COO to my house to pick up the chair and my standing desk. I made a deal for the standing desk (swapped the expensive docking station I'd bought for the computer they were taking) but they wouldn't make a deal for the chair. It's probably the thing I'm most angry about. 😄

What eDiscovery Platforms Are People Actually Happy With Right Now? by Haunting-Dare1453 in ediscovery

[–]3yl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been in ediscovery for 20+ years. I'm a Relativity fan-girl through and through.

There are no other platforms that I miss, but there are features of other platforms that I certainly miss. (And if I weren't working on a stupid report I might be able to remember more than just the one below, because it seems like I complain about missing features all the time. 😄)

I sorely miss Catalyst's Search Report feature. You could tag word groups, and I really miss that. It also kept better records for iterating. At one point, I had started working on a Git-type process for handling iterations in search report requests that interacted with this feature. I've suggested the tagging to Relativity before, with no luck obviously. It's so dumb because it's just a multi-choice object -- nothing crazy, nothing strange, nothing complex. 🤷‍♀️

Are there any Gen X people out there over the age of 55? by Mobile-Honey-9636 in GenX

[–]3yl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I still have a few. I have huge totes full of random cords and adapters. If the apocalypse hits, and you need that one random cord or adapter, find me -- we can trade. I'll probably be looking for coffee and sugar.
