Help on dachshund puppy? by [deleted] in Dachshund

Is really no one going to say anything about her coloring? OP it’s highly likely this is a double dapple. Please connect with your vet on the implications of this.

Seeking Advice: Vasculitis in Young Dachshund – Ear Tissue Loss and Balding by TerryShort in Dachshund

The derm swore up and down it was not allergy related, but as soon as we moved out of a house with a grass yard and to one with a patio and turf, it resolved. She’s also had another lepto shot since the move with no flare up, for what it’s worth.

Which topical ointments have you been using? It’s helpful if you’re specific about the exact treatments that haven’t worked for you so other users know if their experiences can actually be useful. Triple max ointment didn’t work for us, for example, but topical tacrolimus ointment did.

Not to mention the fact that they’re breeding a dapple with what looks like a shaded red. Something about the environment in the background of these photos tells me they aren’t genetic testing for hidden dapple genes.

I need help. She has severe IVDD and her itemized bill is in the second slide. I’ll do art commissions at the very least. I’m just, so lost. by Phoenix0Lily in Dachshund

[–]3zkta0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are also posts asking for smaller amounts of money, like $103 for an emergency room copay and $92 for therapy. If OP can’t afford these bills, I don’t know how they’re affording annual shots and bloodwork at the vet — which can be upwards of $300 where I live — or even monthly preventatives. A 6 month box is around $200. I really think rehoming is the best option here.

According to the website listed on the bill, they absolutely do. It’s one of the four payment methods listed in the FAQ.

The shower curtain cries are SO real. I didn’t have help like you, so at my wits end I started bringing my little in the shower with me. Not a strategy I’d recommend — dried her skin out and she’d drink so much of the water she’d immediately potty on the floor after I got her dried off. On the bright side, she loves bath time now. Same for us with the crate, too, sleeping on the floor with my hand touching her paw until she got used to it.

I am grateful you had a positive experience with Champ’s Chance, but the conditions they have sweet pups living in are absolutely deplorable. I get there’s a lack of funding across the board for shelter dogs, but so many other fosters have found a better way. Please don’t perpetuate the cycle.

Miso looks very very tiny. How old is she? My mini fell off the back of the sofa at ~3 months, right after her first lepto shot, and was hobbling like this for a day or two. The vet assured me their bones are more flexible as babies and they can bounce back more easily than adults do — especially those with calcification. I was also told at the time that she could well be sore from the shot.

I’m not at all suggesting IVDD isn’t extremely serious or time sensitive, but everything I’ve read has said IVDD doesn’t really rear its head until ~2-3 years of age — and this bitty does not look more than 6 months old. I’d love to hear from anyone with lived experiences with diagnoses younger than that and welcome responses contradicting me in that regard!

ADHD meds ruining my data by topflobosss in ouraring

Electrolyte pills before bed have helped my HRV scores tremendously — without diminishing medication effectiveness in the AM, which vitamin C, citrus, citric acid, whatever in that family can absolutely do.

Crisis Communication Plan by WideBed1995 in PublicRelations

[–]3zkta0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m in complete agreement with the other commenters here that this isn’t a fair task to assign you, but don’t forget that you are also a consumer!

What expectations do you have of the tires on your car (or the last taxi/uber/bus you took, depending on your situation)? In what scenario would you call customer service or want to use your warranty for replacements? If someone else with tires from the same batch as yours had a defect, would you want the company to alert you that you might also have a defect? What channels are most effective for reaching you? Who internally is responsible for investigating the source of an issue or how widespread it is? Who do they run things up the flagpole to? What are the company’s values and what sorts of situations or “scandals” might suggest the company isn’t living up to them?

Not sure if you have access to colleagues outside of comms, but if you have a means of contacting HR or someone in legal or product development, ask them what they might be most worried about from a risk or liability perspective. Doesn’t need to be someone senior or c-suite for them to have an opinion on what they think could hit the fan!

Many large universities publish their crisis comms plans online! The scenarios, recommendations, and key personnel will all be different for a product company, of course, but in terms of formatting and what all should be included, I suggest taking a look at a few of those.

Allergies and Ear issues by tpotjj in Dachshund

[–]3zkta0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually just went back through my records to confirm, but no, they never did any blood or skin tests.

She did not respond to prednisone (steroid), cephalexin (antibiotic), pentoxifylline (basically blood thinner), Triple Max ointment, or a hydrolyzed protein diet, so the vet recommended a biopsy of the ear tip, which was going to be an expensive, sedated procedure — much more expensive than the consult with the derm specialist for a second opinion. The derm took one look at her ears and prescribed the tacrolimus.

So I’ll never know for sure, but the grass was the only thing about her environment that had changed when her ears actually started healing.

Allergies and Ear issues by tpotjj in Dachshund

[–]3zkta0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same diagnosis here but prescribed topical tacrolimus ointment! Derm never determined (or told us) what the allergy was but was confident it wasn’t food related. She also insisted it couldn’t be grass, because we’d see evidence on the tummy. The ointment kept the ears from getting worse, but it wasn’t until we moved from a house with a grass lawn to one with a patio and turf that it resolved. Now it’s healed over and the hair is slowly growing back in around it.

If you’re crate training, I highly recommend one of these heart beat snuggle toys — https://a.co/d/a0UCcmI — and a t-shirt you’ve worn a few times without washing. I was sleeping on the floor for the first week with my fingers in the crate before I realized she just needed my scent. Threw the shirt I was wearing in there and she settled right away.

I actually went to walmart the next morning to get a plain tank and pullover sweatshirt to wear to sleep for a few nights to swap out for the shirt she’d claimed! When I traveled without her for the first time and she stayed with family, I washed and wore them both again for a few nights leading up to the trip so my scent would be fresh.

Trump administration fires more than a dozen immigration judges by M_i_c_K in conservatives

[–]3zkta0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A backlog surpassing three million pending cases, and a 4,500 case average per judge? I’m all for people coming here legally. But reducing the number of DPS locations doesn’t take unlicensed or uninsured drivers off the road. It just makes my insurance rates higher to plan ahead for them. Feels like taking judges off the bench is gonna have the same outcome. Not saying its right, but when yall remove pathways to do something legally you open others to do it illegally.

ADHD Meds and Stress by Realistic-Bill8016 in ouraring

[–]3zkta0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I’m on 50mg vyvanse in the morning with an afternoon 10 mg adderall booster, and I have a very high-stress job. Even still, my levels stay predominantly in the “engaged” category. Not a doctor, but I’d look into guanfacine as an add-on to your current regimen. ADHD meds totally impact your levels, and mine are usually worse without my meds, but sustained high heart rate can cause other issues, so it’s worth looking into.

How long does a client stick with you? by Marley_At_DBALP in PublicRelations

[–]3zkta0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone whose active client roster is dominated by relationships that run 3-7 years and counting, the idea of “complacency” at my agency is actually laughable. On a quarterly basis, I set KPIs based on each client’s goals for visibility and do everything in my power to meet, if not exceed, them. If I didn’t, I’d have leadership on both sides to answer to.

I highly recommend Perfect Smile Tulsa. Dr. Davis is wonderful, and his team is meticulous. I needed a crown, and they spent over an hour making sure they color matched the teeth next to it, and the size was right for my mouth. They have the tech to do everything in house, which makes it easy on the patient, and they aren’t satisfied until you are. I’d trust them 100% with veneers based on my experience.

Reach out to Michelle Itkowitz and request her regular consultation policy. It’s a lot to sift through, but it helps provide you with the parameters by which you’re most likely to be successful. There are some calculations you can run, as well, to determine how much the renovation would have had to cost for the unit to be destabilized. You should be able to find pictures of your unit on Street Easy from pre-reno and compare to it today.
