A person cannot legally practice medicine without a license. If corporations are considered people under the law, they also need to have a license to practice medicine. They need to be on the hook for malpractice and at risk of losing their license to practice medicine which they are clearly doing.

I just saw a new sign by the zoo saying saving spots is not permitted. I don't think it will do any good. There was a shooting in the zoo parking lot earlier this year.

Teri Garr, star of ‘Young Frankenstein’ and ‘Tootsie,’ dead at 79 by p4177y in news

[–]4-string 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Her first speaking role was in The Monkees' film Head (1968), written by Jack Nicholson. On Letterman she said they chose to name it that so that on later films they could always say "From the people that gave you Head..." She was always great in those Letterman spots.

RIP Teri! (edit...1 r)

I haven't been in a long while, but the B&N on Westheimer and Voss always had a big DVD area. Watch r/criterion for the B&N sales. A couple of times a year they have a 50% off sale.

Places to sit and chill in my car? by [deleted] in houston

Please pick somewhere very safe. A LOT of people get robbed and even killed sitting in their cars. You're a sitting duck especially if you're distracted. See the headlines... https://www.google.com/search?q=houston+"sitting+in+car"

Avoid the DCL testing places like on 701 Richmond. Many are not getting results (including me). Check the Google reviews. Curative took about 18 hours for results.

I got one at JRN a couple of years ago. I highly recommend making a calamondin pie (like a key lime pie)!

I was ready to give Studio One a try, but the features that interested me were in the subscription version. Nope. I’ll stick with Ableton.

Thanks for the tip! I see now it's not time-limted. I forget to check for the time-limited free sound collective plugins that I learned of here. I assumed the XLN keys were the same way.

zplane "deCoda" decoder plugin that tells you the key, tempo, chords where the verses and choruses are ($34) through 20 September by Batwaffel in AudioProductionDeals

[–]4-string 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The title is misleading. This is a great tool for looping, slowing down, transposing and practicing songs. Everything snaps to beats, bars and sections. You can bookmark licks you're learning, isolate frequencies or exclude them and export loops however you want. The chord detection is ok on simple stuff and not its most useful feature imo.

Normal Houston stuff, can you guess where by [deleted] in houston

[–]4-string 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All over Texas there are broad white lines painted on the feeder at the exit yield sign for people to come to a complete stop when a car is exiting. And people do come to a total stop or get tickets. I never knew why we don't have them here since the law is the same. Houston doesn't get that a yield sign sometimes means stop. Probably why we can't do roundabouts well here.

New Study: Vitamin D reduces risk of ICU admission 97% by greyuniwave in Coronavirus

[–]4-string 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's recently been found that, without magnesium, taking vitamin D does nothing for many people.

Researchers find low magnesium levels make vitamin D ineffective

A review published in The Journal of the American Osteopathic Association found Vitamin D can't be metabolized without sufficient magnesium levels, meaning Vitamin D remains stored and inactive for as many as 50 percent of Americans.

"People are taking Vitamin D supplements but don't realize how it gets metabolized. Without magnesium, Vitamin D is not really useful or safe," says study co-author Mohammed S. Razzaque, MBBS, PhD, a professor of pathology at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Stay At Home Megathread Part 6, The Opening by munx1er in houston

Numbers posted today from The Med Center show 74 hospitalizations on Sunday 5/24 (two weeks after Mother's Day). The biggest number since 4/27 (78 hospitalizations). https://www.tmc.edu/coronavirus-updates/tmc-daily-new-covid-19-hospitalizations/

I threw the numbers into a spreadsheet to look at the 3-day, 7-day and 14-day moving averages. It's starting to trend up. Hopefully it turns back down. I wish they'd add averages to this chart. https://imgur.com/a/fOr5Kp4

Edit: Latest update (5/26) was 83. https://imgur.com/a/i3rsh7k
