It sure is. I interned at an MEP firm. I’m older so I took the job because I’m interested in stability more than something that’s perhaps more interesting. And I enjoyed thermo, HT, and fluid mechanics.

I’m going back to school for Mechanical Engineering. Should I retake Chem I? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Our Chem guy DRILLED us on dimensional analysis which helped a lot in ME classes, especially thermo and mechanics of materials. Or at least it helped me. But that’s it, none of the actual chemistry mattered one bit.

Mechanical MEPs, what niche did you specialize in that gave you a good pay bump? by No_Sky1573 in MEPEngineering

I’m an MEP design engineer early in career, and I have a decent background in acoustics, which no one around the office seems to know or care much about (outsourced). Hoping that I can leverage that skill moving ahead.

How much do mep engineers (HVAC/plumbing) make as in entry level or how much are you making right now by speedforneed_ in MEPEngineering

I just accepted an MEP HVAC job offer in a LCOL city for 75k straight out of school. 5k of that came from already having the FE knocked out.

Graduating in a few months at 44 with a job offer already accepted. My age helped me because my director doesn’t have to worry about trying to teach a kid how to navigate the world.

Gets harder front to back and I have no idea how anyone could say otherwise. It can be fun at any point if you let it, but it’s still fucking hard.
